Brush hog accident(s)

I've been wearing them for at least a decade now, and they're great. I made fun of them for years, and I still don't butter my Crocs, but they're just so damn convenient. Like an all-terrain slipper.

Also, I wear black socks with my black Crocs, and I do it with my head held high. 🤣

Now, I do not wear them when operating a chainsaw, or weed whacker, push mower... but they match the tractor quite well.
I would have to go buy black socks. :D

How good is traction with those?
In summer I used to put on shorts and an old pair of sneakers, then wade the shallows fishing for bass and pickerel. One day I got into the river and floated downstream, casting a fly as I went. My sneakers were killing my feet so I tied them together and set them on the water, thinking they'd float along with me. They didn't. The last time I saw them they were floating around the next bend, and I had to walk back through the woods in my stocking feet, then ride my motorcycle back to camp barefoot.

Okay well - you said they matched the tractor :D

Well, that would still be orange, the avatar is just shadowed.

Admittedly, matched may not have been the best word; it pairs well with the tractor. Like milk with cookies.

When new the traction is really good, they're great water shoes, and they're fairly steady on wet grass. Now, as they age that changes; eventually they'll lose their tread, and when that treat is gone they're bad on slick surfaces. Still fine on dry grass, still fine on the driveway, fine to drive with, but anything wet? Nope. I suppose that could be said for most shoes, though.

They last quite a while though; typically I'll of broken a strap before I run the soles down. These days I just alternate between my Crocs and boots, I haven't worn a traditional shoe in forever.

I'm a little offended that I'm only beginning to worry you... 🤨

He does have a good point though, time to move back on topic. Have you ever witnessed a brush hog accident while wearing Crocs? :D

A pair I had was worn smooth.
Went everywhere in them until...
Walking across a parking lot in the rain and stepped on the painted line.
Talk about groin pull.
I was sore for weeks.
No more Crocs for this camper.

That's why you have to replace them, eventually. 😂

You ought to see the shape my boots are in; I'll hold on to those until there is nothing left of them. 🤣
I just went to replace a pair of boots... only to be told that the company no longer manufactures footwear.
Hopefully I can get my old pair resoled, so that they can last another year.

Anybody know where I can get a decent pair of Made in USA steel toed work boots for under $200?

No Crocs at work for me. I like my feet in one piece. Crocs are for putting the dogs out back to do their business.

And when did Crocs become "high end" ish? I remember them in the dollar store a half dozen or dozen years ago.

I would say "Red Wings", but I've got a 20+ year old work boot pair that I had resoled 10 years ago. These are not steel toe. I went to put them on last month after them sitting for the last year and both soles have come loose on the boots. I'm going to take them back to the Red Wing store and see if they can fix the soles again (they did the resole). Otherwise I love the boots.

I have a pair of steel toe Red Wings also, that I almost never have to wear, so they are like new. I would only have to wear those if I got a service call to the mines or power stations.

The ones I wore as a machinist/steel fabricator at Bobcat look like they've been through a war. But nothing would look pretty for long in that environment. This pair also had the metatarsal guards in them, which made the boot huge, heavy and quite stiff.

Crocs are legit. They have two modes: sport mode where you flip the backstrap up on the front for quick in and out wear. And they also have all-terrain mode where the strap goes behind the heel.
What mode is socks with sandals or socks n’ crocs? Limp mode?

I do wear slip on shoes around the house and yard but they are not my grandmas shoes. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That’s a good call. It probably means you’re way overdue for a regen, and you’re tail pipe needs more frequent cleaning.

Whoa - we've gone from crocs to tailpipes
We need to get back on topic:)

Topic is brush hogs and I have to go mow today. What can I do to prevent moisture in my gearbox?

I posted a separate thread about it already, but haven’t seen much in the way of suggestions. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.
