2019 Kioti CK3510hst with FEL, 1964 Ford 601 Workmaster
I own a Kioti CK3510hst. I was moving some rocks in the FEL the other day on a slight slope. The bucket was almost full and close to the ground. It was difficult to stop as I drew close to a 9ft drop-off. Yikes! My question: Is this normal and I just need to be careful? or is there some way to adjust the brakes to make them more effective? I've also noticed that the parking brake doesn't seem to hold as firmly as it once did. I have about 340 hours on the tractor. I need good brakes, my land is very hilly.

does your hst not almost stop you when you let off the pedal? I never use my brakes on my hst tractors, only when idling and parking, are you sure you were not sliding? I hope you were in 4x4?

If you have weight in the bucket and it's not in 4w drive your brakes will not be effective. There's no weight on the back wheels.

That is the one thing I miss when I don't have the Kubota treadle, being able to toe/heal to control stop and HST drift while on a steep slope.

On flat ground I rarely have to use brakes. It was in 4x4. not sliding, wheels were rolling.

has it always been like this? my tractor will skid the wheels downhill if I let off the hst pedal fast enough

No. My first inkling of a problem was when I noticed that the parking brake was not holding as well as it used to. This with the bucket full of rocks was scary. I was trying to get close to a wall to dump the rocks, there was about a 5 foot gap between the wall and the ground the tractor was on. I was about 2 feet from the gap when I tried to stop. I was less than a foot when I did stop. I was barely moving, not even a mile an hour. I thought I was going to fall into the trench and break down my brand new $37000 basement wall for my new house, not to mention the damage to the tractor.

hst hold back power should have nothing to do with the brakes themselves, did you wear the brakes out by leaving the parking brake on? I have done' it a number of times.

what happens if you start hitting the reverse pedal lightly, does it stop? does the tractor creep at idle? maybe the return to neutral spring needs to be tightened?
