Good Morning
46, grey and damp, but it’s not raining.
Yesterday was a semi lazy day got a few things done, flew a little RC, and got prepared for todays shearing.

That got underway at about 7am.
It’s moving along pretty well, at this point we have an experienced crew that works well together. There is about a dozen humans to shear 40 alpacas.

Not sure these guys appreciate their haircut.

No chairs, some waiting…

I turned part of the shop into a cafeteria to feed the crew. Not all set up yet, but I’ve got a little time.

Meat balls and sauce, hot dogs and sauerkraut cooking in beer.

Some cold salads, ice cream sandwiches and cookies for dessert.

Got to go set up some more tables and chairs, and get out utensils and plates.

good morning all
bit of a late start, 50 going to 59 in clouds all day

my morning will be quiet but then taking 93yo MIL out for drive at 1pm, might bring her back here, not sure how good her walking will be on a lawn
vs pavement. Was thinking I could bring the golf cart over to the car and go from there. Maybe.
Then later this afternoon dinner out with old friend, at a Peruvian restaurant in Doylestown. Likely to try something new tonight.
Three days of rain starting tomorrow.

have a lower rear molar that is unhappy and gums sore, took a tab of penicillin to stave off the inevitable infection. Appt with dentist next week, hope it behaves.
Likely my fault, got food stuck and floss wouldn't take it out, tried a new paper clip and likely abused something. I need to get some of those wooden dental sticks.
I have had success with WaterPik, which is particularly effective for those annoying popcorn hulls that perfectly conform to the contour of a tooth and are virtually impossible to remove without resorting to extreme measures…

Good morning! Low of 25°, heading towards 66°. Supposed to be nice today. Then cold, windy, chance of snow tomorrow. High forecasted to be only 50°.
Let the spring roller coaster continue.

Got the materials unloaded and 'staged' for cutting. Ran out of time to do any more. More appointments and then grocery run today, so probably won't get to cutting today either.

Got a year older yesterday.... no big celebration, just some IC cake shared with the son and GS's. I have never been a fan of 'parties'.

Alpaca's with crew cuts..... interesting scene..... How many pounds of wool is gathered from 40 of 'em?

Gonna get movin.... Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 6:45AM. Partly cloudy. High 93F. Winds light and variable.
Way too warm for this early in the year.

Nice job with the glue, Drew. I won't complain if you have to cover up any light leaks with black electrical tape. That'll add a nice RedNeck flourish.🤣
Your note about the birdbath sprinkler reminds me to see if the one here is still getting water from the drip system, or if I need to start filling it by hand. The only time the pump on the sprinkler runs is in direct sunlight, though.

That's a LOT of sore fish lips, Mark. Also sounds like way too much fun!

I once told an attorney in a courtroom that the only sure cure for recidivism was the death penalty. Didn't make it onto that jury, either.

Just my opinion, but there really is no way to prevent a crazed person from committing another mass shooting. Access to firearms, anywhere in the world, is such that anyone can get one if they work hard enough at it and break enough laws without getting caught. That leaves the response when it happens. Do you hope the person lives to make it to a court room? Or is some prepared witness to the act able to nip it in the bud and stop the person before it becomes a mass killing? That approach seems to work in Israel and other places...

KJC, the system here uses 2 @ Outback FM100-D00VDC Charge Controllers. One of them was DOA upon installation, but they were easy enough to get at the time that it didn't take them long to replace it. Lithium batteries have a very flat voltage vs. discharge curve, so it's tricky to set the parameters for the charge controllers. I'm told lead/acid batteries are somewhat easier to work with, if that matters in your system.

Yesterday the contractors finished framing the porch cover and got a coat of primer on it, and now we're waiting to find a roof contractor. Once that's done, we'll know what color roofing steel is available, and can get on with picking compatible colors for the paint on the house. I noticed that the plywood on the underside of the porch roof has created something of an echo chamber on the back porch now. Somewhat distracting when I'm making a phone call out there.

Busy day yesterday running errands in the morning, starting with a trip to the Oroville PO to pick up a certified letter. Had to sign for it in person. It was from a lumber store used by the porch work contractor, as he'd required them to sign a lean waiver when he bought materials from them. It seemed rather retaliatory to me, making me go out of my way so far to get their letter, which only contained information I already knew.

Then a long drive to Chico for new gate batteries and other stuff. Got home after lunch, and spent the rest of the day doing little jobs like installing mud flaps on the Camry and the batteries on the gate. Had to reprogram the keypad again, but it seems to be working now.

Also finished packing for a trip to SoCal today, and have a couple of new listings to look at, though neither one of them are especially promising. I'll at least get to meet the new realtor in person, though.

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!

PPG do you process the wool, carted and spinning or do you sell it?

It goes to a coop mill where it is processed and returned as yarn and other finished goods, then my wife sells it, primarily at farmers markets.
There is about 5lbs of fleece harvested from each animal.

66°F and no rain.

Continue with pool cleanup today. Also drain and clean the hot tub.

Hand and foot and dinner at friends this afternoon. We are responsible for dessert. Sophie found a recipe for Flan I’m going to try. 1st step is to make substitute condensed milk. Found a recipe using coconut milk.

Nice to look out and realize all the mowing is caught up.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

58F and sunny @ 12:30, calling for a high of 66F for the day.

Did make it back up to the shop last night ... (y)

Got mobile base all primed up, turns out I had enough:

Agenda for today:

Load more scrap metal in the van.

Make run down to recycler/steel supplier and drop off scrap metal and pick up 1 stick of 2 x 1/4 flat bar (for "wings" on SSQA mounts)

Mow lawn when I get back.

Probably start with top coating mobile base later this evening.

Woman had agenda items involving the Kubota but not critical, trying to avoid using it until I can get the front axle seals replaced ... which of course is waiting on me to free up some room in the shop.

Happy Birthday to Ted.

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday ... (y)
