I thought I was going to have one to share today. A small sized SUV was towing an triaxle trailer up the interstate, which was swaying so much they could barely keep it in their lane. I popped the disc from my dash cam when I got home but for some reason it had already looped over that spot.

I assume you meant an SD card instead of a disc. Just get a larger SD card, I have a 256GB card in my dash cam, and it records about 20 hours of HD video before it starts overwriting the oldest videos.

Most dash cams have a lock button to keep that footage from being overwritten. I've got a 128gb and hit button then pull off when back home. Have 2 so just play switch with them, that way always a card in it!

Most of my hitches I've picked up out of the road. I believe that I've bought one in my life, and that was because I didn't have one with me when I bought a trailer.

That's 5K towing capacity, 500 lbs hitch weight. Like most people, I use a 5K hitch for my 7K trailer but technically that's towing wrong. Theoretically, my truck is limited to 5K without a weight distributing hitch also, but I don't have one.

Wow - I run an 18,000+lbs rated hitch for my 12k dump and even my smallest trailer is rated at 3000lbs and I run an 8000lbs hitch (2200lbs tongue weight rated for both). I much rather have an overrated hitch than an underrated one.
I have no problem paying for a good hitch. I figure $300 -$400 is not a big deal when I may be towing a $50,000+ vehicle or even a $20K UTV.

It's a bit different, but years ago I sold a trailer which I had converted from a small boat trailer buy attaching a 4x8 sheet of plywood to the platform. The guy was going to tow his dressed up Yamaha behind his RV. It was his money but the trailer was grossly inadequate for what he was doing.

Weigh Safe makes nice hitches. Easy to check tongue weight. Many models are aluminum...easier for me to lift.

Definitely match shank size to receiver...the adaptors are a real compromise.
