should the flywheel in the perkins come on the crankshaft tight? or only screws holding it in place?

It should be tight. Are your bolts original? There is a shim, 187886M1 that can be used if the bolts are bottoming or hanging on the bolt shoulder. You could also trim the bolt length, but you need to determine what is causing this

Shouldn't there be a dowel pin to actually locate the flywheel? The bolts (alone) will have that kind of freeplay, normally.

I started to say that, but the parts book doesn't show one. It would help, but there looks like there is clearance between flywheel and crank

Did this combination run before, or has something been changed here? The shim mentioned shows up on engines with a rope type rear seal, but not with a lip seal.

it was warking on this setup, but in most tractors/cars that I had the opportunity to dismantle the crank shaft overlapped the flywheel thigtly, and here it seems that they practically hold it only screws/pin.

the crankshaft broke but on the other side, I don't have a retaining pin, I'll go to the turner to turn pin

Okay, different crankshaft explains a little more. A pin is good, but you still need a tight fit flywheel to crank with or without a pin. Is it the bolts are bottoming out in the crank that is preventing the looseness?

the bolts are not tight in holes, I turned the flywheel to the crankshaft at 105Nm and checked the
radial play 0.35mm,
axial play 0.05mm.
i think its ok?
on workshop manuał max is 0.3 and 0.03 but...

How does the flywheel fit on the old crank? Same as this, or was it a tight enough fit to self center?

IT was the same fit like old one, not tight and IT was without dowel pin.
The flywheel has only 2mm of recess for the crankshaft.
Enigne is in forkllift.
i also have a second crankschaft but its was very bad fit

in tractor flywhell looks similar

I would certainly figure a method to tighten the fit. It could be what contributed to the broken crank.

We tried to deepen the flywheel on the lathe, but no matter how we tried to catch it, there was a big runout:(

Crank in this model broke wery often, its popular enigne in my country (Poland) Perkins engines used to be produced in Poland under license. They were very popular as well as the fact that the shafts liked to break, just at the back on the crank like mine.
It seems to me that if the flywheel was the cause, the shaft should break at the beginning at the flywheel, not at the end?

Hard to say, but with that play, I would think it would throw it out of balance. In any case, there shouldn't be any play between the two. Are the bolts bottoming out before they can tighten the flywheel to the crank?

Far as dowel pins go, you can buy them in all sizes (metric and SAE) from MSC or McMaster Carr online.

I do not understand what you mean.

I losen the screws and set one more time, now runout is about 0.11mm

radial play 0.11mm,
axial play 0.03mm recently I measured it wrong, I read that when measuring the axial play, I should press the shaft, through the clearance on the thrust bearings..

Basically, are the bolts too long and going all the way to the bottom of the hole, stopping before tightening the flywheel

the screws have the correct length, i can screw them all

Screw them all.....? But are they tightening the flywheel against the crank. It doesn't look like it
