Tractor
Kioti KL4020
After I completed some very difficult snow removal (packing snow to ice - losing traction), and after I parked my Kioti in the shed, I turned the lights off and the tractor died - no power at all.

During snow removal I had noticed an odor that to me indicated an issue with the brakes - like a hung brake and the brake pedal was spongey. I ignored it as I was pretty sure it was not a clutch or transmission smell. No warning lights evident. I did notice though that as I was finishing up, If i picked up the grader attachment or the loader, the lights would blink.

It was about 1.5 ft of recently accumulated snow that was wet and heavy and would pack into ice very quickly, so the tractor was struggling a lot with traction. I do have chains, but I did not take the time to put them on as it was really late.

I am going to try to find the fuse box (I can't find my manual or one online only one for the loader attachment) and see if I have blown a fuse or something similar and check voltage on the battery.

Any other suggestions on what to do next or where to get a manual for the tractor? I have another foot of snow to remove.

Tractor info Kioti CK4010CHSE (KL4020-66 loader :) unsure of year - bought used.

Thanks!

Update: I did find a generic online manual for ck2610_3510_4010 and should be good enough for me to find the fuse box anyway.

KL4020 is the loader model, not the tractor model

Looks to be under the hood, back towards the cab.

Not the best pictures, but you can only expect so much from taking pictures of a book with a phone.

Explain “no power”. Is battery dead, what happens when you turn the key etc…

I found this and checked a few of the fuses and they looked ok. I did not check them all. Mostly ones related to lights as they did blink a couple of times.

Should I check them all?

Thanks,

I checked the battery and it has 12.75 volts, so appears to be fine. I checked a few of the fuses and they appeared fine but did not check all of them.

When I turn the key, no lights appeared on the dash and no sounds. When I turned the key all the way to start, I heard an electrical sound and very, very faint sounds of something possibly turning over, but I did not do it for long.

I have no idea what to do next other than maybe try and see if there is power coming into the fuse box. Not exactly sure how to do that, but I am going to give it a go in the morning.
Thanks!

Try jumping it with another battery, it could be a dead battery under load.

Double check your battery connections. Maybe a cable needs to be reattached or is corroded.

Check and clean the negative battery cable ends, at the battery post and where it bolts to the frame. Look for rust and corrosion at the contacts and the cable ends themselves too. Notorious issue on any make of tractor….I’d bet on that, if the battery checks out with a load test. Second choice would be a relay…🤷

THe connections are fine and not corroded at all. Very clean really.

THanks

ok, I looked at everything today for any sign of problems with connections and relays, but everything looks clean. I will try and attach pics/video of the engine, etc.
After looking at everything (I did nothing to the engine other than move the red connection cover on the solenoid (I think that is what it is) and the connection looked fine, I tried to start it again. I have it on video as I was trying to capture the sounds it made from yesterday.
And again, no lights or sound when I turned the key to auxillary and the spot before trying to start it (generally where the engine warms up the glow plugs for a bit), then I turned the key to start and the tractor started!!
It did have a warning light this time though (check engine light).
Should I take it to a kioti mechanic? I certainly am not a mechanic and it did not show a warning light in relation to any electrical items or battery.

THanks
