Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:15AM. Cloudy with showers. High 49F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Yesterday was dry until noon, with showers on and off the rest of the day. Looks like more of the same today.
Wet Wednesday, then dry for the rest of the 10-day. Maybe the Pacific High is coming back?

Back in high school I learned to use a lathe very similar to your Craftsman, Ron. Many years later I had a South Bend 9" bench lathe with a milling attachment. When the economy tanked in '07 I found a machine shop that was going out of business and picked up a Morton FEL-1340, which I later learned was the same as an Enco Turn-Pro 1340. It came with a ton of tooling and a nice DRO, and was my first time using insert tooling and a quick change tool post. It's the best washer and spacer maker I've ever had...

Neat story about the couple and dog riding motorcycles around the world. That BMW would be my last choice to ride, though. They're difficult and expensive to maintain, and they're heavy for the power they make. I also can't imagine riding off road two-up with a dog. Camping gear is heavy enough without having something back there that moves around on its own. I wish nothing but good luck for them, but, well, I won't say it.

My friend in Lompoc had a walk through of a house they found on Zillow. The big deal for me was that it has a 15x30 bonus room of unconditioned space that would fit all my shop tools, in addition to a two car garage. And maybe even enough room for a shipping container in the back yard. I'm anxious, though, as the place was built in '59, and though it looks like it's been upgraded in the past, even that was quite a while ago. It has a slab foundation, and I wonder what shape the plumbing is in as it would be a nightmare digging up a leaking pipe. And of course it's priced way above what it's worth. It's already been on the market more than a month, so I don't think it's going anywhere soon, especially with interest rates on a tear. But it has got me thinking about how nice it would be to live in a safer place within walking distance of shops and restaurants. And cheek-to-jowel with neighbors, a daunting proposition...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

It’s a Holiday Monday

67°F and no rain, but showers in the forecast.

So glad to have the main structure of my tractor shed extension up. Need to add diagonal supports for stability as I will not be adding a traditional rafter and purlin roof, but installing solar panels on aluminum rack. More a carport type than walking roof.

Wife made plans for a late lunch with her brother. Being a Holiday he is off today.

Practically gave away my 24 inch PHD auger. Bought originally with my kioti years ago thinking I might plant some trees. Never dug a single hole with it. Think it got a better home.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

A good watch if you like to see spoiled celebrities with full support and baggage haulers complain their way around the world with a variety of self induced calamities just to spice things up.

I tried to watch the first one in a theater and the projector broke half way through...

Mark, We watched 3 episodes of the documentary about the patrols They had several fatalities since they were started 1950. They use only dog sleds during winter. They resupply the huts with boats during summer. Not sure if snowmobiles were used at some point and given up. They have a series of huts set up across the coast line as well as a base camp. One fatality was because he feel asleep without being fully covered up by the sleeping bag and froze to death.
They have a grueling selection process and are there for two years teamed up with one new guy and one seasoned guy for each team. There are several hundred of former team members that are much admired in Denmark.

45F and "Fair" @ 14:00, heading up to around 48F for the high for the day. Very good chance for rain tonight (97%)

Was successful in getting cat off my lap so made the trip down and got fish fed, also washed out a TidyCat container in the stationary tubs. That will get used out in the garage once it fully dries to store some Play Sand we use in potting mixes.

Scheduled a bill for payment.

Woman reports that there were a good number of crows out around the feeders this morning.

Deer feeder is empty ... so apparently someone is coming by and cleaning it out every time it's filled.

Hopper feeder still has a good amount in it.

Need to go over to the barn and get a measurement on the large hose for the Shop Vac. Pretty sure it is 2 1/4" ... but it could be 2 1/2". Also need to get a measurement for the dust outlet on the table saw.

Trying to cobble up a dust collection system using the Shop Vac with a Dust Deputy 2.5 and 14 gallon plastic barrel.

Saw a YouTube video from a Japanese guy of building a downdraft sanding table using pegboard, looked pretty slick. Figured I might attempt one of those as well, although might use something a little more substantial than pegboard for the top.

Since it's fairly warm (and dry) out right now, think I will also make the trip up to the shop and fire up the double barrel ... and see about getting rid of some more of the cardboard, paper, and other burnable junk:

Assuming I can get a path cleared over to the bandsaw, I might cut that flat stock for the wings for the wings on the loader implements ... ;)

Have some saw chain I need to sharpen as well.

Hope everyone is having a good MLK Day ... (y)

It is called Sirius Patrol but it is in Danish and it requires VPN to access it on the Danish TV website. If you have VPN I can give you direction on how to do it? But no subtitles
