Good morning.
25 and sunny. Going to make it past 40 under clear skies.

Not sure what’s up for today, someone would like me to fly with them, they are finishing up their training and getting ready for their practical test for a private pilot certificate, and would like a review and evaluation.
Daughter has a few chores for me at her house, and I would still like to make a part in the shop. So what ever happens I won’t be bored.

Here is my lathe-

It’s fairly modern with cam lock chucks, and a collet closer.

Zoe is definitely getting much easier on my hands, the real problem is that those puppy teeth are razor sharp, and we play together all the time. Here’s the same hand, pretty much healed up and no new wounds a week later-

She is 12 weeks old today, and right at 30lbs. She is growing like a weed, now taller than all the dogs that she plays with.
She sleeps all through the night, sometimes in her crate, we use it to block the entries into the kitchen, but leave the door open so she can come and go.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:15AM. Cloudy with showers. High 49F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Yesterday was dry until noon, with showers on and off the rest of the day. Looks like more of the same today.
Wet Wednesday, then dry for the rest of the 10-day. Maybe the Pacific High is coming back?

Back in high school I learned to use a lathe very similar to your Craftsman, Ron. Many years later I had a South Bend 9" bench lathe with a milling attachment. When the economy tanked in '07 I found a machine shop that was going out of business and picked up a Morton FEL-1340, which I later learned was the same as an Enco Turn-Pro 1340. It came with a ton of tooling and a nice DRO, and was my first time using insert tooling and a quick change tool post. It's the best washer and spacer maker I've ever had...

Neat story about the couple and dog riding motorcycles around the world. That BMW would be my last choice to ride, though. They're difficult and expensive to maintain, and they're heavy for the power they make. I also can't imagine riding off road two-up with a dog. Camping gear is heavy enough without having something back there that moves around on its own. I wish nothing but good luck for them, but, well, I won't say it.

My friend in Lompoc had a walk through of a house they found on Zillow. The big deal for me was that it has a 15x30 bonus room of unconditioned space that would fit all my shop tools, in addition to a two car garage. And maybe even enough room for a shipping container in the back yard. I'm anxious, though, as the place was built in '59, and though it looks like it's been upgraded in the past, even that was quite a while ago. It has a slab foundation, and I wonder what shape the plumbing is in as it would be a nightmare digging up a leaking pipe. And of course it's priced way above what it's worth. It's already been on the market more than a month, so I don't think it's going anywhere soon, especially with interest rates on a tear. But it has got me thinking about how nice it would be to live in a safer place within walking distance of shops and restaurants. And cheek-to-jowel with neighbors, a daunting proposition...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Taking MLK day off. Will mop up from the storm. We got 3 inches of rain this weekend and prepare for another 1.5 due tonight. Garage got wet Saturday night. It's been flooded 2 times in 2 weeks. It at this point I miss the drought.
The ground needs to dry out before I can redirect the neighbors water runoff away from my elevationally challenged garage.;)

PopG - fingerprint done - is it champagne time?

Hit a water pipe while drilling for wires.
45degree pipe through header to heat pipe. Someone was creative :-( , not fun.

Good morning to all! Low of 29°, going up to 40°. Light snow this morning, snow showers this afternoon. Repeat for tomorrow. We received about 3". Not enough to take the tractor out.

Didn't do any yesterday except give myself a stiff neck looking down at the Ipad for hours..... too many rabbit holes to go down.... I did get a 2 hour power nap.

Might make a run to the grocery store. Somehow I didn't get enough of the right things last week......

Found the one elusive Christmas decoration that was hiding in plain sight. It seems that every year, something gets left out..... I'll get it up into the storage loft today. At least I know which tote it goes in.

Ken, Sorry about hitting the pipe. Hope the plumber has some sympathy.....

Drew, hope your neck feels better.

Everyone have a great day!

Have you tried wearing welding gloves?
I found those to be ideal when we had a Corgi. She loved to be able to tear into me and never harmed me through the gloves.

Rain and thunderstorms here today, on top of frozen ground. Back to winter in a day of so. This is gonna get messy.

Ken, sorry about the pipe. If I was closer that is something I can easily fix if copper. It’s the hole in the wall that is a pain to fix.

Someone said it’s a holiday, I might have to take off.

I did manage to get back to sleep around 6 am, until wife woke me at 10:30. Now groggy.

Seems you get a lot of fun weather out in the Midwest. We only had a good ground freeze right before Christmas. It gets cold here at night, but getting back up to 40s in the day. Been pretty mild winter so far.
