Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 26°, going up to 48°. Sunny, no precip, no wind! Should be nice the next couple of days. Another band of storms possible on Tuesday, but this was the first mention of weather changes..... still too far out for them to make a guess.....

I didn't get to the pond heater yesterday.... still too much ice. I'm going to try and break it up this afternoon, at least enough to get the heater in and running.

Couldn't run the drip either. The lines that I tried were still frozen. One of the main supply lines cuts across in front of the house --- which stays in the shade until late afternoon. I think that's where it's still frozen. I may try to bypass that area if I get energetic enough..... highly doubtful, could be more trouble than it's worth.....

Need to go to the grocery first this morning. Hopefully the lines will defrost while I'm out. Then, since the Feast of the Epiphany is past, the Christmas decorations are due to be taken down. Shouldn't be too hard, didn't put up the magnitude as in years past.

Drew, sorry that the RV didn't match the requirements. There are tons of different floorplans in the 'small' category. Maybe an internet search can find you the 'dream RV'.

Mostly, have a safe return trip. Enjoy the scenery!

Ron, that is one big lens .... 500-1000mm zoom?

Rip, hope you find access into the wall space. Sounds really weird that you keep getting blocked..... Really neat barn / milk house.

Scaredy, hang in there! Prayers and thoughts heading your way!

Gonna get going... daylights wasting....

Everyone have a great day!

OK, part of the list completed.... grocery run is done. Had to go to 2 different stores. Wifey wanted "bread flour" and Wally World didn't have even 1 bag, plenty at the other store.

Success getting one zone of the drip going, that continued while I was at the store. Second zone going now.

Broke the ice on the middle section of the pond and got the heater going. I'll turn the pump back on in a couple hours and then see how it does overnight.

Since today's agenda is moving forward, I might try and detail the cab of the truck. It still has a nice coating of dust/dirt left over from the summer.....

33F and cloudy @ 15:00, calling for a high of around 35F for the day with some flurries and snow showers.

Up very late today after a long day out in the garage. Spent over 12 hours out there working on it, didn't knock off and come in until 04:30 AM.

Top of bench along north wall now cleaned off except a little bit at the west end. Shelf and floor below mostly cleaned and vacuumed.

Oil drain pans drained into 2 1/2 gallon jugs and cleaned up and stowed away under the bench. Oil jugs staged at the overhead with the rest of the junk that's headed up to the shop.

Stihl blower, chain saw, and pole saw stowed under/next to bench.

Got a bunch of growers pots boxed up into two boxes and stowed under bench on the floor, also stowed the larger pots there as well. Still more pots to stow though.

Good progress made on cleaning the junk off a long folding table that's out there, also starting cleaning off the work bench on the west wall. Once I get that table cleared off it will get moved up to the shop in the next few days for the big sort out that needs to occur up there.

Starting to get into sorting out all the little pieces/parts which is always time-consuming. Most of that is either headed down to the basement or up to the shop.

At any rate, it's getting to the point that you can actually move around out there without tripping over something and breaking your neck.

I'm sure that the hopper feeder needs refilled, so that's on the agenda before it gets dark.

Fishies need fed as well.

Other than that probably continue on with the garage.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday ... (y)

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 13C and it's presently 17.9C, overcast at the moment, fairly calm. There's got to be something in the gauge which I'll check after Church. (0.5mm)

Thai food was lovely and a good night home filled with laughter & conversation/banter.

Penelope the pussybeast wouldn't come in at bedtime, so I left the door cracked open for her... felt her by my side at around 0330 so I got up and shut the door. As it turns out, a brush-tailed possum had 'followed her' inside! At about 0400 it was trying to find a way to leave and woke me up... they're a very gentle creature and, after some low-voiced encouragement + a broom I was able to coax it outside. Penelope went outside whilst all of this was happening so I just shut the door... she could just stay outside for another hour 'til I got up to get ready for Church. :)

After Church we're going into town to get fish & chips for a late Lunch. My Aunt will pack as tomorrow we'll leave around 0700 to drop her off at the Launceston airport. Then my Mate and I will head into Launie to make a few purchases/tasks, before heading home.

That's about it, take care all.

28 this morning, so fired up the woodstove for the first time in over a week. Looking for 51, maybe a snowflake tomorrow.

Phil, sorry to hear your wife is still suffering...prayers said.

Buppies, I've been doing stick-pick-up off and on all week. Found two trees, one big cedar, that completely blew over from that December 23 storm.

Kilroy, DSL here, too. I was just talking with our new provider, Brightspeed (bought out Century Link, who was Embarq, who was Centel, who was GumTree Telephone Co) yesterday, since they made a billing error when they took over...while they corrected the error, they upgraded me free from 10 to 20 meg...not effective for 2 more weeks, but I'll bet my speed doesn't really change much up from the current 10. Even at 10, never have any trouble watching movies, or doing what we do on the web.

Well, we'll be taking down all the Christmas decorations now that the 12 Days of Christmas are over. Also, need to get the outside ones before tomorrow's precip.
The precipitation we were NoT supposed to get today means our inflatables will be up for a few more days. . . Indoor stuff coming down slowly. . .

And you can do this Drew without adding oil IF you have a good ceramic non-stick frypan and heat it before you put in the potato patties. I would add some onion to really add flavor.

It is if you have heart disease.

Wise move.

Good morning! 63˚F heading to 70s until the cold front blows in then will drop to the 60s again this afternoon, and 40s by morning.

If it does not rain (40% chance) I'll plant my new Yaupon bush, hand digging through clay and rock, may need hammer and chisel. At least I still have the last of my compost dirt to give it a good start.
There ya go, ruining the humorous quip. . .

I was so tired of the limited internet access I was getting with the hotspot on my phone, I just set the dishy on the ground and fired it up. I had some tree obstructions, but I had good internet access finally. It was about 10 months before I could get the dishy to it's permanent mounting location. Works even better now. :)
The Temporary Installation will be a cobbled-together 22-foot mast with three guywires for stability. It will consist of the Starlink Tall ground post, which will slide over and be cross-bolted to a 10-foot length 1-1/4” EMT, which will be u-bolted/cross-bolted to a 10-foot length of Unistrut. This mast will be raised and bolted to the vertical piece of Unistrut that supports the aerial conduit from our solar panels to the house.

this will elevate McDishFace to level with the ridge line of the house, and emulate its eventual permanent position on the house, albeit approximately 20’ to the south.

in the photo A1 & A2 are the same height. B is a good approximation of the mast top without Dishy. C is a poor approximation of where Dishy would be height-wise on the mast, but an excellent guesstimate of where it would be in its permanent position.

it should be an interesting exercise. . .

Was able to get 3/4 of the drip zones done. One of the largest flow zones was frozen in a corner at the very beginning near the supply. No-go getting it to flow. This is the only spot that stays in the shade all day during the winter.

So, watered the whole zone by hand with the hose. Timed the full flow for 2 minutes per plant. Should be enough to hold them for a couple weeks.

Didn't get to detail the truck because of the manual watering, but that's ok.... it was nice being outside in the sunshine. Truck moved to tomorrow's agenda.

I did manage to take down the outside Christmas decorations. They are not put away though.... need to get the storage containers down from the loft in the garage... for both the outside and inside deco......
🎶 TOMORROW, TOMORROW, the sun will come out TOMORROW!! 🎶

Have a great evening!

Cancelled our Starlink order. Once we heard the fiber optic internet was coming to the area.... it's been a month since we hooked up and it has been flawlessly working

Is it through your phone company?

do they make you give up your POTS copper pair?

I can't get those speeds with Starlink, I can't get those speeds with the fiber we have on our street. The fiber company here wants $150/month for a max download speed of 100mb/s for residential service and $8500 to connect to our house. So Starlink is cheaper and faster than our fiberoptic internet. They will provide 1Gb/s for a business but I have no idea what that cost is.

Supercross racing season about to have it's first race tonight from Anaheim Ca.

On the Peacock channel. Great racing, for about $6/month. Not that I like giving peacock any money.....but I've been watching this racing since I was a kid.

Remember the Yamaha Gold Cup races, broadcast from the Houston Astrodome? I was there!

Kyle, we were there too at the Astro dome converted to motor cross racing with mounds of dirt. I think

it may have been one of the first races they had. Remember the exhaust was really bad. May be ventilation improved on the later races

No, not the phone company. This company started out doing phone and cell phone services. They dropped all the phone service about a year ago.

Now they do nothing but fiber optic internet. We have their "mid" package which is up to a gig download speed, for $85 a month, including 2 additional mesh routers. No charge for install or equipment.

We still have 6 pair copper coming in, but don't use it at all.

   / Good morning!!!! #162,420
The mesh routers are fantastic! I have one out in the shop (detached, about 150' away from the main router)(and through the whole house and the wall of the shop). No problem connecting at all! --- can actually watch videos out there now. The other mesh is in the hobby shack, about 75' from the house.

We are doing our cell phones over the internet when in range. No more dropped calls.
