Google says the base weight of that camper is 4,525lbs!

The truck manufacturers want to market the highest load carrying capacity the engineers and lawyers will agree to. Camper manufactirers want to market the lowest weight. When I was researching campers I discovered the trade association of camper manufacturers had agreed that the advertised weight of a camper would be dry, with standard equipment. Standard equipment might be a styrofoam cooler and plastic bedpan. Get the optional propane refrigerator and chemical toilet and you have a head start on sea2summit's calculations.

Google says the base weight of that camper is 4,525lbs! 75 gallons of water capacity full would be 5,150. 32 gallons of fuel in the truck is 5,400. 500lbs of food/clothing/gear puts you at 5,900. Put four people in the cab and you are at the max weight capacity. I don't believe for a second they've never exceeded max weight.
So what if they had.

Safety factor of 1.001? Wrong answer.
Even the space shuttle is supposedly 1.1.

I don't recall seeing any truck frames built in two pieces and welded, either. I sure thought they were hydro-formed and the entire side rail at once. Also, steel isn't like aluminum with fatigue cracking. A million miles on the truck..... well then maybe. Some wicked hoopties in the road?

Something is fishy. Seen quite a few similar pictures. All Fords, I believe.

Usually those broken trucks with campers were pulling trailers behind them with a ridiculously long hitch extension. I wonder if they welded those camper anchors to the frame. I wouldn’t want one of those truck campers anyway. I’ll load 6k on one of my duallys and not think twice about it but with the height and wind profile of those campers they would have to handle horrible. I’m not sure that the tires are up for a long distance trip loaded that heavy either.

That's what they claimed not me. I'm just saying what else do they not understand or what else are they lying about?

No, I'm not a dodge lover. Matter of fact they'd be my third choice in a fullsize truck. But I hate to see something blamed for something that might not be it's fault.

Never do math in public before the second cup of coffee...32*~6lbs should have been ~192lbs.
Diesel is ~7.1 lbs/gallon, though. Just to be OCD here
