Got to spend a 3 day weekend with my wife at Watauga lake.

I liked this picture, taken 10 mintues before sunrise.

The lake is roughly at 2,000', we were at about 3,000'

Ha. I’ve been to clingmans dome. Zero view from fog, but we walked up the tower anyway. But The fog/clouds are typically at the higher elevations, not lower.

This is just outside of Chattanooga. Phenomenon like this happens ALL THE TIME in the southeast. Very common.

To begin with, the basic difference between both clouds and fog is that clouds are formed vapor is turned into liquid and takes the shape of tiny condensed particles. Fog, on the other hand, is formed due to the cooling of ground air that turns the vapor into liquid ice or water.
