Been out here 40+ years. NEVER seen nor heard of wildlife being hurt by barbed wire fencing. I have my 80 acres enclosed in barbed wire fencing - mile and a half of it. Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge - just across the county road - uses barbed wire. EVERY county road has barbed wire up/down its full length - both sides. Keeps the cattle where they are supposed to be.

What the Hell - everybody out here uses barbed wire and T-posts.

The idea that wildlife will become injured on barbed wire - an old wives tale.

If the encroaching items are on your property I guess you can "clean them up" and make them disappear I bet that solves the problem.

Put your fencing in now, then let him/her come over and try and get the stuff back...

So far one deer and one woodchuck on this farm caught in barb wire in 30 years. wish would happen more. To many of both

For boundaries barb is great. Smooth wire he could just keep coming through. Easy enough to walk through. However, you could add electric as well to your new fence to keep things interesting.

Come on scootr - do you honestly think where I live makes a hill of beans of difference. The fact of the matter is - animals learn very quickly about barbed wire. Or maybe those in CA just aren't so smart - HuH??? Around here the deer & elk go over. Coyotes, raccoons, badgers - and the like - squeeze under. Moose will just step over. Cows stand on the other side with a stupid look on their faces.

I have heard of animals caught in fence, but not heard specifically that barbed wire was worse than other type. Only exception is horse that ran through barb wire fence, she was cut bad enough to be put down
