How many of your friends do NOT have tractors?

Not including neighbors, I'm that one friend who has a tractor. Most of my friends don't live on properties large enough to need a tractor.

Lots of neighbors have farms and tractors. But friends...? I'm long-time retired and most of my friends are as well. Can't think of one that has a tractor.

This is actually a very good question, one I really had to stop & think about. Although I only have a few friends 'round here, I believe all but one has at least one tractor - most 100+hp. The one that doesn't currently have a tractor is waiting for an insurance claim to be paid so he can replace the three that burned up in his shed.

I also have many friend that are still active duty military. I'm not aware of any of them having a tractor; however, most of them have something that is usually "Tracked" or has ginormous tires, have wings or rotors and/or go boom in the night (daytime too) these items are usually significantly bigger than a tractor and are assigned/Hand receipted to them. Does that count?

I think the term "friend" is overly used. A co-worker got upset with me when she realized that I do not call her, or anyone else I work with, "friend." I simply stated that its not a negative thing. Do we hang out outside of work? Do you call or text me after hours? Do you talk about your personal life with me? All answers were, no.

I have different categories of people in my life:
Strangers, acquaintances, co-workers, neighbors, friends, family.

Calling someone my "friend" is something special to me. My friends are people who support me no matter what. I could call them to bail me out of jail and they wouldn't even hesitate. We hang out on a regular basis, have similar hobbies and interests, and our families get together just about as often as we do. They are completely welcome in my life, I would trust them with my life. I need both hands to count how many friends I have, but not a third.

So, to answer the thread question: Out of my friends, 3 do not have tractors. Not even a riding lawn mower! Two live in town, one in a down town condo! They have no use for a tractor and are happy in their living environments... just so long as they can come out to my place for some fresh air from time to time.
The other guy, he has an ATV he uses to plow the driveway of snow, a walk behind tiller for the garden, and that's about it. His property is pretty simple. Though I have hauled my tractor to his place a few times to do some work. 3 times since 2018. That's not enough to justify a tractor purchase.

People here who run bulldozers often refer to them as "tractors"... which makes sense if you think about it. The term I've never understood was "chicken tractor."

Lots of people also call tracked dozer a "D-9". I'm one of those people who wish they owned a compact tractor.

I live in a slowly dying farm community. All my neighbors with farms each have several tractors. Sadly, many farms are being subdivided into 1 and 2 acre lots. Buyers are mostly city folk who don't want, need or even know about tractors.

Checked the location on your profile to see if you live around the corner from me. You don’t, but same situation here.

My friends with acreage have the tractors and equipment to maintain it. I doubt I’d have much in common with a land owner that hired everything out.

Friends without acreage don’t have equipment because they don’t need it. Don’t need much equipment to take care of a lawn you can mow in 20 minutes with an electric weedeater and that seems to be the currently popular style here.

And I do have off premises liability and physical damage coverage because my tractor gets used at church and once in a while a friend’s place. If they borrow the tractor, no problem so long as I come with it. They can’t just borrow the tractor. Only exception would be my brother if he needed it due to his being out of service.

Last year during a holiday at a cousins house in the big city I saw a guy mowing his ~30x30 yard with a little (~18-25hp) JD lawn tractor. Asked him if he had a place in the country and he said no, just liked the status of having a rig like that.
