for those of you who own a secondary freezer, any thoughts on upright vs chest?

Seems to be advantages of both. Less bending over with upright.
Headed to local appliance store tomorrow to see what their least expensive 10-13 cf freezer is and what is their most popular.
Maybe larger if some volume leader is cheaper or the best deal.
Also, what breaks down the least. They do the repairs so they will know.

I do not need an Electrolux or Bosch freezer in this modest cottage. I'm happy with US made (Mexico??) appliances delivered and installed
included, including down the stairs to the basement. Not like I can get it down there by myself. These freezers aren't light.

GE, Hotpoint, Frigidare, plain white, frost free if upright. If freezers were cars it would be a Biscayne.
I don't need wifi. Or alarming, I don't want to talk to my frozen broccoli.
I'm in the basement almost every day for the hot tub so having a power on light would be helpful to see from afar.
I need another breaker put in on the panel and a receptacle run for this freezer in the basement.

That will make three things for the electrician to do.
They seem to have a 300 dollar minimum so I'll see how much gets done for that.
Kitchen ceiling light, bathroom Panasonic vent (yes I ordered a second size to see if bigger one will fit.)
and now running a line for this basement freezer.

these tradesmen know they operate in the high rent district, though I happen to live in the medium rent area...older much smaller homes, which is just fine with me.
I have a couple different guys I can call. I'd like to get all three done for 500 bucks.
let's see how close I get to that. I'm providing the light fixture and the new vent fan. Electrician needs to possibly add another breaker, and run a 20 amp line 10 feet with a box on the end.
I think my 500 is creeping up to 700...
I got my 12cu ft chest freezer in 1997. Defrost it every year around October. I also have an upright 18 cu ft., bought ten years ago. Right now it has everything that was in the chest. The chest will be finished defrosting tomorrow, it'll get plugged back in and cooled down to about 10°F. The upright gets defrosted and decommissioned until the price of meat comes down some.

The firewood is all in the basement. The conveyor is oiled up and put to bed until next fall.
The mess the tire chains made of the driveway has all been dealt with. I do NOT like a smooth driveway, there are 3+" rocks sitting on top, along with a couple of speed bumps in places where the contrast between shade and bright sunlight is abrupt.
Nobody is going to haul azz up that driveway.

The surveyor is the one who subdivided it just this summer
I might get surveyor to put a couple line markers in, even though you can pretty much see from one marker to the next.

Realtor also said he could get surveyor to remark septic. Hopefully at no charge to me.

Am also considering once line gets marked, having a fence company put a fence just on my side.

Also, my realtor ( they bought from same seller) is going to say something to the realtor these people used, to make sure they understand where the line is. I just used the selling realtor so he represented both sides in my deal.

Thanks for lending an ear.

No cake yet.
I would definitely get the realtor or seller to provide a document that the neighbors sign off on to where the exact property line is located. Make it their problem not yours.

Oh, and I would explain the facts as for why beef prices are so high, but I don't want to get another post yanked.
You can start that thread on Front Porch" if you think it will get political. I suspect the 20% increase from last year because of a labor shortage and price of fuel. Fuel meaning everything made from it that affects the meat industry from the styrofoam trays, fertilizer, and transport fuel.

Drew a new 400 acre water park is starting next year in South Austin near the Tesla Giga factory with sandy beaches that probably need tractor maintenance.

Good evening! 76˚F A warm weekend really brought out the crowds. We had a new rookie tractor driver helping me with the second trailer, he did good, we seldom had to leave people behind waiting on the next tractor/trailer. One company had their picnic here buying 600 tickets for their employees. You know you have a really good crowd as the security is bored and lost debit cards and cell phones were turned in to the lost and found and back to their owners.

why beef prices are so high

Doesn't bother Don or me either but I'll tell you if some future medical test comes back with bad news I'm going out and getting a bacon double cheese burger and I won't care what it costs.

You do realize that your mouth will be happy but your vegan digestive system will take a while to get back to animal product digestion.

"Vegans do not permanently lose the ability to digest meat, dairy, or eggs. However, temporary digestive issues may occur when reintroducing these foods due to your gut bacteria and digestive enzymes having adjusted away from them. Therefore, it may be best for ex-vegans to reintroduce animal foods slowly."

53F and clear headed down to a low of around 44F in the overnight. High here today hit 73.6F, another beautiful fall day.

Temp was warm enough for just a short-sleeve shirt until it was time to come in. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer.

Got water supply hooked to the hose and hose turned on first thing, then connected up the hoses over at the barn end.

After that blew the leaves out of about 85% - 90% of the front gutter with the Stihl.

Then used a toilet bowl brush and brush for cleaning mag wheels to give the inside a good scrubbing followed by hosing the debris down to the north end.

Once that was done I started replacing any broken hangers and installing the gutter covers.

It would be fairly easy to do ... except for the fact that in the center of the building the gutters are mounted too high to easily fit the covers over top of the hidden hangers.

Thankfully, the covers are aluminum ... so they're easily "modified" with a hammer to bend them a bit to get them up over the hangers.

Got not quite half the length of the front side installed:

Stuffed a plastic bag in where I stopped to prevent any leaves from blowing up under the covers.

Should be able to get the front finished up tomorrow, then start on the back.

Woman helped out as ground crew - plus blew leaves off the pad which will help keep it dry (some rain expected Wednesday) - as well as digging out some of those black locust roots + dirt to allow the placement of more foam board insulation:

By the time we quit (around 19:00) my back and hips were complaining from standing so much. She was hurting too.

Neighbor lady was out walking her dogs earlier and stopped by for a visit ... bearing gifts of turkey noodle vegetable stew ... which we ate for dinner this evening, along with some garlic toast.

After dinner we caught the final episode of Season 1 of Tolkien's "The Rings of Power" on Amazon Prime.

Time for a shower and shave ... then maybe some chocolate pudding which The Woman made before hitting the rack.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday ... (y)
