for those of you who own a secondary freezer, any thoughts on upright vs chest?

Seems to be advantages of both. Less bending over with upright.
Headed to local appliance store tomorrow to see what their least expensive 10-13 cf freezer is and what is their most popular.
Maybe larger if some volume leader is cheaper or the best deal.
Also, what breaks down the least. They do the repairs so they will know.

I do not need an Electrolux or Bosch freezer in this modest cottage. I'm happy with US made (Mexico??) appliances delivered and installed
included, including down the stairs to the basement. Not like I can get it down there by myself. These freezers aren't light.

GE, Hotpoint, Frigidare, plain white, frost free if upright. If freezers were cars it would be a Biscayne.
I don't need wifi. Or alarming, I don't want to talk to my frozen broccoli.
I'm in the basement almost every day for the hot tub so having a power on light would be helpful to see from afar.
I need another breaker put in on the panel and a receptacle run for this freezer in the basement.

That will make three things for the electrician to do.
They seem to have a 300 dollar minimum so I'll see how much gets done for that.
Kitchen ceiling light, bathroom Panasonic vent (yes I ordered a second size to see if bigger one will fit.)
and now running a line for this basement freezer.

these tradesmen know they operate in the high rent district, though I happen to live in the medium rent area...older much smaller homes, which is just fine with me.
I have a couple different guys I can call. I'd like to get all three done for 500 bucks.
let's see how close I get to that. I'm providing the light fixture and the new vent fan. Electrician needs to possibly add another breaker, and run a 20 amp line 10 feet with a box on the end.
I think my 500 is creeping up to 700...

If you click on the bell, they will get reset.... I think you can click on the notification bell and it will show 'settings' at the bottom of the little window that opens. I believe you can set your notification preferences there.

Drew, we have purchased 2 upright freezers over the last couple years. The first was this one:
It worked great, just too small for our needs. We still have it, now in storage for an emergency backup.

....but after realizing that it was too small for us (we buy meat in bulk), plus we store all the dog food that we make.
We replaced it with this one, kept outside in the unheated garage. It went through last winter's -21° without a hiccup. We are pleased with it.

It will probably last at least 5 more years since we purchased the extended warranty..... after that (probably the day after the warranty expires) who knows?

Sorry for your woes. Maybe the land should've come with fences? Not sure what to tell you, but we are here to have our ears bent.
And I hope you got a big piece of cake for your birthday.
.

The surveyor is the one who subdivided it just this summer
I might get surveyor to put a couple line markers in, even though you can pretty much see from one marker to the next.

Realtor also said he could get surveyor to remark septic. Hopefully at no charge to me.

Am also considering once line gets marked, having a fence company put a fence just on my side.

Also, my realtor ( they bought from same seller) is going to say something to the realtor these people used, to make sure they understand where the line is. I just used the selling realtor so he represented both sides in my deal.

Thanks for lending an ear.

No cake yet.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 11C and it's presently 12.2C... which isn't actually 'true' as the blustery night/day's wind chill has dropped the temps by 5C. There's been a wee bit of misty rain but nothing in the gauge as of yet. That's going to change over the next few days with (yet more) heavy falls predicted.

Church was lovely yesterday and, after coming home & lunch, I got stuck into re-arranging the horse trough water supply system. One of the 'Mad Horse Women' [they know that I call them that, by the way] and her daughter were already here so "many hands make light work". Everything was completed by 1400 and both troughs were filling nicely.

Not much on for this windy/rainy day, although I do need to pop in to see my Doctor @ 1400 for him to print out a 'scheduled' blood test.

That's about it, take care all.

I always replace florescent with something else, when it wears out or starts to hum or flicker.
Incandescent, just inefficient light, though possible warmer in tone. Halogen, often too hot, sucks juice.
LED still seems to be the darling child even though most of us have had a failed LED bulb by now. They do not last forever.
We had fluorescent lights in our kitchen before the remodel. They were replaced with recessed LEDs. Earlier this year, I had to replace three of the six. They were the ones over the stove/oven side of the kitchen. Not sure if it was the heat or the steam that got them, or maybe a combination of both. They lasted almost exactly five years. The other three seem OK, but I can see a slight difference in the brightness, with the new ones being slightly brighter. Not sure if this is the difference in the newer diodes being better/brighter, or if it's an indication that the other three are diminishing as well, but at a slower rate.

I've replaced several LED flood lamps over the deck that illuminate the back yard. Haven't had to do that for awhile, so I maybe just got a bad batch of them.

Our LED yard light up on the pole midway to the barn failed as well, after about four years. Still need to replace that one. Haven't yet decided if I'll call an electrician to do it, or rent a small lift and do it myself. Not interested in climbing a ladder leaning up against a 20-foot pole. The electrician who put it there retired and moved one island over from David, so he's not much help anymore.
