I've driven most vehicles made out to work sights. The last time I drove our small sized truck out to one, we later said "never again" and got an atv with a box. Today we are using the 2nd one we've owned to access work in the field. Don't care what Samuari's or Jeeps cost…View attachment 766164
What do you do when it is raining or snowing?

Mostly to do with mass production. If there were as many tractors as cars then they would become much cheaper.
Have you looked at SXSs? I bought my 4 seater Polaris Rzr about 10 years ago new for 17k. Now they start at 27k and go over 40k.
And Kathie Wood keeps crying wolf about deflation 😂

Dealer told me a few weeks ago they are selling more cars now, with none on their lot, than ever before. And because of the “ shortage”, they are selling at MSRP and above. I gotta believe they are under ordering to keep the deal going.
Wouldn't surprise me. However, it doesn't look like Powell's rate increases are having much effect so far either.

It's not just tractors but a general reversal...

This holiday season should be telling of where we are

Trying to get work done was near impossible and recently contractors that wouldn't give me the time if day are reaching out for any work I might have in addition to car dealers and vendors offering incentives to buy goods...

Don't know if the gravy train has ended or it is that manufacturing capacity is now had excess capacity...?

Of course it could simply be the cost of money being up via interest rates changing the market as is happening with home sales which has a Cascade effect and equities being down with predictions for more to come...

Interest rates aren’t curbing equipment & vehicle purchase desires, but they are depleting purchasers bank accounts.

I was at my dealer yesterday and we were discussing how prices have gotten completely out of hand.

Just a few prices I saw (Canada, in Canadian dollars.)

A Grand L3560 with loader and a snow blower (no extra remotes or anything else) $86,000
OOoooh, canadian bucks. I was confused. Because on the kubota USA site, the cab 3560 tractor is $38,000, the loader is $5,000 extra. Its the stupid front blower that requires "autohitch" adding another extra $20,000 to the price. Basically, the front snow blower is a stupid thing to buy and other than that, the tractor price is somewhat reasonable (though I would never pay that much either).

Are people still seeing steel surcharges or have they been absorbed into the regular pricing

Steel has come way down in pricing on the futures. Think it's less than half of what it peaked at

Please explain.
People still need equipment & vehicles, even when interest rates are high.
However, when they buy them with higher interest rates, the cost of ownership is higher, so their bank accounts get depleted more (than they would if interest rates were low)

That's right. The only thing that curbs unhealthy desires - financial or physical - is self-control.
The way around that problem when it is mechanical is to simply repair the old one & continue.
Not a popular solution, but previous generations did it - so the same would work for us.

Or buy used crap you can afford

And that's the difference. Don't even waste looking at crappy or unpopular machinery. That's the mistake too many make the first time they buy used. I know I sure did. I brought home some real dogs.

Smarter buyers on a budget learn real quick to pay the price for good models. Those are the ones where "old & worn" is acceptable because a novice can learn to deal with age & wear. Good ones are designed to be maintained.
But abused equipment or oddball models are just crap & not worth it.

Easy to tell as well by the amount of filth and dried grease on a used machine for sale, either that or a '5 gallon finish' sprayed over old grease and crud. Worn and maintained is ok. Flogged and neglected isn't ok.

Only thing cheap junk will get you is lots of headaches.

We really like the; rain as its so seldom
that we get rain and for snow we haven't
seen any for a few years but when it snows
it reminds me of a verse in the bible Jesus
will make our sins WHITE AS SNOW!
:I hope we get some snow this winder 2 to
three feet of it because when it melts it will
soak into the ground instead of just running
off

In reality. new tractor sales ARE declining, especially smaller non ag units because those fall under luxury purchases not necessity purchases and with the economy what it is, luxury items take a backseat to necessities.

Big units will always sell because most producers I know, turn over equipment at least every 5 years or when a unit is completely depreciated and there is no tax advantage in keeping it.
