Great to see it was rebuilt.
It’s when a section is destroyed then abandoned that’s depressing.
It’s like an epidemic here in my area.
You can’t go for a walk in the woods without stumbling over abandoned RR tracks. Really depressing.

Down there the area is pretty active as far as rails go.

Why is it called a “dummy” engine? Or is that a question for a railroad dummy?

Horses were used to pull streetcars, and also for general transportation. The replacement of the horse-pulled streetcars with smal locomotive-pulled streetcars scared the horses. They built "Dummy" (fake) car bodies around the locomotives to solve the problem.

More RR pics from this week. I'd guess the rims were cast on February, 12th in 1918 at a foundry in Chicago IL called Griffin. They are a narrow gauge RR and the Q M C stand's for Quincy Mining Company. Looks like Griffin is still in production.

What was the purpose of keeping it in a building like that? Heated to keep from freezing maybe?

My guess is the building was restored and moved onto new piling/cribbing, or the original snout rusted and a new replica was installed thats shorter.
