This reminds me of a story a concrete driver told me once.
In Philly he was doing a pour and a guy drove up and asked if he had anything left, could he fill the bed of his pickup.
Driver told him that was not a good idea, but the guy said he didn't care, his truck was an old clunker.
So driver dumps in the bed of the truck. Naturally the truck bottomed right out.
Guy said it was ok, he was only going around the corner. He started his truck, put it in drive, and the rear proceeded to blow out.
Driver then said the guy got out of his truck, took a long hard look at it, and proceeded to take the plates off and walk away.

Sorry, this was over 20 years ago, no photos.
I cement finisher was very busy in semi retirement.

He bought new a 1 ton short bed dump… the lift incorporated under OEM bed.

1 yard of concrete right into the bed of the truck is how he worked snd very reasonable…

There's more freedom in Mexico!

Hey rontaki - is that a gold dredge in your avatar photo?
From one of the sites where this picture is available -

"In May 1968, Rolling Stone writer Jerry Hopkins and I went up to Frank Zappa's house high atop Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles to interview and photograph Frank for a cover story. For some unknown reason, in the hills above the house was a collection of old and rusting road grading equipment, including this big D-7 or D-8 tractor upon which Frank started climbing and miming and having a good ol' time." -Baron Wolman

Yes... it's a term from by gone days as California Titles were pink at one time.

I still have a drawer full but not so common to see unless you have owned the vehicle for a very long time...

Oops. Showing my age.

Yes, 'Pink Slip' was the title document you sign on the back to release the vehicle to the next owner.

That term applied: Way back in the American Graffiti / Beach Boys era - before VN - it was common to challenge another street racer (drag racing, not Rally) to 'Let's go for pinks!'

... or so I heard ... :)

I've been so propositioned a few times and it's all I can do to keep from laughing...

Guy’s rooftop cargo carrier popped open while driving……saw some clothing type items on the road then saw him pulled over about a tenth of a mile up.

Always double check a secure load - no matter how small.

Last time I was in that situation I was coming down the miles-long grades from Donner Pass to the Valley in a 56 Willys Wagon that had a worn out 259 Studebaker V8. (essentially a SBC, they bolt up to the Jeep transmission, a popular combo a half century ago.) With the Willy's low Jeep-ratio axles the thing was screaming at some unGodly rpm going freeway speed down the mountain. Along comes an apparent twin to it, another Willys Wagon, much faster. Must have had a modern V8 and the Warn overdrive. He gestured, accelerated, did everything he could to challenge a race. Sorry bro, this little short-stroke V8 is already spinning as fast as it can go risking grenading. Not gonna race.

Nothing to do but laugh!
