Back in my first two years as a mechanic, I worked on piston powered planes. As I remember it, 80 octane av gas was dyed red. 100 octane av gas was dyed blue. I don't remember 115 and 130 octane's color.

Bingo, hit a pig win a prize. Yep they were green and purple. I was slightly wrong about the blue. It was/is for 100LL. I DDG 'd it. I think 82UL was used after I left general aviation and went to the airlines.

Since it was 100 octane, yes it was blue. But back in the day is still today, as you can still buy it........... Sunoco 260 GT 100 Octane Race Fuel

At the first airport I worked at, we only had ground pumps and no fuel trucks. This was 1979-80. As I recall they had the 80/87, 100LL, 100/130 and Jet A. You either had to taxi up to the pumps, or get towed up to the pumps.

My very first day working there they had an air show! The very first plane I ever put fuel in was a T6 Texan.
