Overhead Garage Door Lubrication In Dusty Barn

About every year or two I lubricate the overhead door in my garage using a white lithium grease spray.

I also have a newly built horse barn with two overhead doors, and the time has come to lubricate those doors, but I'm hesitant to use white lithium grease spray - especially on the big round springs - because a lot of dust settles on top of those springs.

Note, the dust comes from the horses. They roll on the ground, come inside the barn, shake, and create a cloud of dust that travels throughout the barn.

Can I get by using a dry lubricant spray instead? Assuming I brush off the dust first.

Don't agonize over it. I've seen springs on 30 year old garage doors that were never lubricated. Blow off the dirt/dust and give them a quick shot of lube.

Yea and I've had 2 fairly new ones fair in the last couple of years. That's why I like the roll up doors.

what are you lubricating? hinges, rollers, pick up lever, etc? is it belt or chain driven? i use my bike chain dry lube, Triflow dry lube on mechanical parts in dust environment, locksmiths & cyclists love it too, regards

I only use silicone spray on rollers, springs, hinges. Once about every 6 months.

I leave dusty springs alone. If no additional lubricant is ever applied, dry dust is a pretty good lube all by itself.
