I read recently that the new Ford Lightening comes with charging cables for when you come across an EV with a dead battery. That might be a solution for if you stay out to long plowing or mowing. They even sell an adapter to fit a Tesla!
Yeah, but the adapter is so you can use the Ford to charge the Tesla, from what I've read it won't work on a Tesla charger.I read recently that the new Ford Lightening comes with charging cables for when you come across an EV with a dead battery. Other than maybe a leaf or a Bolt, where are you gonna find a $40k EV? Sheesh, a $40K anything these days!how is the person making minimum wage or just above, who barely pays their bills, going to afford to go out and buy a $40k+ EV? just not going to happen in any significant numbers.
I believe there is a government policy in place to transition to EVs for federal vehicles. While certainly a symbolic gesture, I'm not sure a wholesale policy is a good idea at this time.I saw a news video of Biden and his entourage driving through Washington...his limo, 5 or 6 full sized SUVs...all internal combustion engines and those vehicles probably got no more than 10 MPG, if that...
So, the first one going EV had better be Biden or the rest of us can tell him to kiss our azzes
yeah, I picked $40k because that's what there is supposed to be available for EVs. but doubling that just makes it that much more unrealistic that average people can afford to buy EVs.Other than maybe a leaf or a Bolt, where are you gonna find a $40k EV? Sheesh, a $40K anything these days!Try double that price real world.
You can buy one new for 40 grand. Tell me where, I'll go and get one.how is the person making minimum wage or just above, who barely pays their bills, going to afford to go out and buy a $40k+ EV? just not going to happen in any significant numbers. And no I'm not knocking on those people, I was one of them at one point in my life....just pointing out reality.
I have almost 12kw, upgradable to another 3 or 4 kw, and I wouldn't consider an EV today, no one makes a long bed (8') EV pickup, I don't think anyone makes an affordable EV pickup yet.No, and I have a better reason to than most because I already have a 7kw upgradeable to a 10kw solar system on my house. It would mean I get my fuel for free.
A couple if months ago I bought a brand new car but it wasnt an EV. It is a 2022 Subaru Outback limited....no turbos.
It will be another 6 years before I will think about buying an EV.
I live in the rust belt with high humidity and cold damp winters.
Seems to be the most popular thing in the world today. Create billions to trillion dollar solutions for non-existent or marginal problems.Nope. Not interested in a solution when there's no problem.
here (maybe everywhere) they talk about having people's EV's power their house when power goes out....so then if the outage lasts long enough, I'm without power to the house and no power in my vehicle to go anywhere. Seems like a terrible idea living in a state with a 3rd world power grid. While I like the idea of a quieter tractor with more torque, I probably wouldn't buy one simply because I like to be self-sufficient. When an ice storm takes down a bunch of trees and shuts down the grid, I use my tractor to clear the road, then power my property with a PTO generator until grid power is restored. From what I've heard and read about EV's, there isn't an at-home, homestead-sized, sustainable power source that is capable of recharging them in a timely (useful) manner. So, my tractor usage would be solely dependent on the power grid properly functioning, which is the exact opposite of when I need my tractor the most.
I completely agree. I wish there was a reasonable way to convert brush piles to electricy. I spend a lot of time and energy burning brush, staring at the waste of energy and thinking about how to capture that energy. The only reasonable wood fired electricity generators I've seen are city scale. Transporting my brush to a generator is not worth the effort. While I like the idea of a quieter tractor with more torque, I probably wouldn't buy one simply because I like to be self-sufficient. ...
I presume you mean ethanol? Doesn't seem to be a lot of love for that here on TBN.We already have the solution to fuel prices and cleaning the environment. It's called corn based fuels.
But the government doesn't get enough kickbacks from farmers I guess.
Yeah, ok Karen.I'd recommend it. I'm delighted with mine.
