Good morning!!!!

Good morning all! Rain this morning, stopping at about noon. Then rain pretty much the whole weekend, which is too bad because our first renters of the season are coming. This is our Victoria Day long weekend and the renters were all planning on fishing!

Oh well, at least the fire ban has been lifted which was on for the past week or so.

Time was a bit tight, but I did get the front lawn mowed with the new mower blades – man are they ever nice! Then spent a couple or three hours yesterday hooking up the floater dock for the Renter property, and so everything is pretty much good to go. It is a chore each spring getting it ready because it is seasonal, so we have to sterilize the water system for two cottages and turn everything on, hook up the water filter system, clean, etc. etc. etc. But SWMBO does seem to enjoy it, and it feels good to have everything ready for our many guests over the summer.

The rhubarb has started to grow nicely, so we can pick some of that soon.

Unfortunately, the black flies and mosquitoes have also arrived, so we have to get our hexagonal dock gazebo and our 10’ x 10’ little “Sultan’s Tent” set ip so we can sit outside in the evening at our place. (There is a nice big screened in porch, which we call a “Muskoka Room“ at the rental cottage, so they will be happy about that, as is everyone who stays there.)

Prince Charles is visiting Canada right now, and of course gets lots of news coverage. Man, is he looking old! Poor bugger, he might not ever get to be King at this rate. He may pass away before his mom!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning to all! Low of 49°, going up to the mid to upper 80's. Breezy already at 06:30. The 'big' winds now may not arrive until tomorrow.

Good luck and prayers sent to Toppop and Buppies for the procedures to be quick, easy, and successful!

Moss, nice place..... and I'm sure it will be improved upon forthright.

Gotta get moving.... the the SWMBO has plans.... gotta go get that tree.

I'll check back in later....

Everyone have a great day!

It is raining right now, I'm glad I cut the grass yesterday. At the tail end of the grass cutting I hit something with the mower and got stuck at the same time. Got the mower pulled out with the Kioti and lifted the deck. Yup, bent a blade and possibly a spindle, too. The guy that sold it to me is going to pick it up and fix it. That'll co$t me, it was my mistake.
I found the something, it was one of the coulters off my two bottom plow that somehow got left in the long grass and half buried in the dirt.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 8:15AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 88F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.
Yesterday's Fire Weather Warning has been escalated to a Red Flag Warning as of 11AM today, running through 8PM tomorrow night. Usually that means PG&E would be warning of Public Safety Power Suhtoffs (PSPS), but not this time around.

I did get the drone up, but later than I'd have liked because the iPad needed a charge. Got to the limit of radio range at about 1300' when it initiated an automatic Return To Home, bringing it back in contact and landing just where it took off. Took off again and cruised up the driveway at about 350', again reaching the limit of radio range not quite to the cul-de-sac. Initiated another RTH, and this time after coming over the launch point, the drone took off to the west and started descending again. I managed to regain control before it crashed into the trees and got it back to the driveway for a safe landing. Dunno what happened, but it sure shakes my faith in the automatic stuff.

The postman dropped off the rebuilt computer for the van, and of course it started right up and ran smoothly with the old one that was in it. Disconnected both battery leads before swapping in the rebuilt one, and again no sign of problems. Until I tried to use the OBD II scanning app to see if there were any codes, and it wouldn't connect. So that's on the agenda today.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

71°F and .07 inches rain

Sophie’s BX2380 to be delivered this morning. Will be interesting to see if I managed to keep it a total surprise. 🤞

Never did find spare shear bolt lurking around so my flail mowing has come to an end until after my cataract surgery and cleared to resume full duty.

Hope Randy is recovering.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

67F It rained overnight. That's good because the Farmer planted corn yesterday at the farm. Pretty cool machine. I guess it took less than 4 hours to plant 70 acres.

I had a doctors appointment this morning. The doctor was telling me about getting threatening letters about his offices health precautions. Are you kidding me? Are you sure they are not putting crazy pills in the water supply?

I have a bunch of stuff I want to do at the farm and at the same time the lawn here at the house needs to be mowed. I can't make up my mind which to do. If I wait long enough it will get dark. o_O

I am enjoying the warmer weather. It is supposed to get up to 90F tomorrow.(y)

Keep up the good work

Chris

nice ride down to Washington NC over the Delmarva tunnel bridge. All the construction on VA side seems to be done, that area has been very confusing for years. Now it was easy, good thing as a lot of traffic goes through there.

I hope Sophie loves her new tractor.

Hampton Inn sent me up to an unmade room, then the door key didn't work on the next room but they were very nice and accommodating. Must have asked me three times if I wanted a bottle of water, guess I looked worn out from the drive. New room keys arrived, I ordered takeout from nice Italian restaurant to take to friends home where we hoped to sit on the deck looking out over the Pamlico. Hope there's some breeze, it's hot and humid out there. Welcome back to NC...
time for a short nap and rest my neck and back.

Afternoon all!
Rainy day in the 50's with 90's weather on the forecast.
Decided to fire up the roto tiller and get the garden turned before it's to hot. Still a few weeks for us before we can plant.
Got the blower off and the mower installed on the Kubota. Went out and mowed the front.
Wife's eyes continue to improve with a good visit to the doctor. I'm doing fine with no issues as long as I stay smart.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Odd about the drone. I haven't had any problems like that so far. One time I flattened the battery a bit too far and it landed short in the grass but that was because I ignored the warnings and I was only a hundred yards or so out. I was really pushing it. We were doing speed tests. In normal mode I got 63 kph.

The Garden Club's luncheon in the outdoor pavilion was a success. Everyone really liked the flavor of the BBQ jackfruit. It was the best I ever made with the new BBQ sauce recipe. There were 120 people there. About 30 were plant based but there were a lot of tasters, which was OK because I made plenty and there was a 1/2 cup of BBQ jackfruit left over. My wife's healthy InstantPot vegan baked beans were also very good with none leftover to bring home. The strawberry pizza desert went very fast I only got 1/2 piece. The caterers supplied the salad, baked potatoes and drinks for us and that along with BBQ for the rest. This was a historic first for the neighborhood - to actually include vegan food in the menu.

Back fro the successful trip to the nursery in town. Very nice gal (who knows her stuff) helped us find the trees. She stated that they just arrived yesterday, and most were "in shock" from the long truck ride.

BUT.... she went into the grouping, dug out the 2 best ones for us to look at and select one. SOLD. Excellent customer service.... a rarity these days.

Wrapped it up and made the trip home without a branch being damaged. Of course, the wind was too strong for us to get it planted, and the temp was up to 86°. Unloaded it around back in a fairly protected area. We'll plant it tomorrow.

Then, while getting a bite to eat, a giant dirt-nado crossed right into the house and yard. Took the wrought iron patio chairs right off the front porch! It only lasted a few seconds going over. When I went out to check the tree, it was still upright.... but, just 10 ft away, the greenhouse wasn't as lucky. Blew out and destroyed 5 out of 6 panels only on one side of the roof (same side where the tree was). Now there is more work on the to-do list.

The son is going to pick up some polycarbonate panels for me when he gets done at work. Hopefully they will work for the repair nicely. I know what I will be doing tomorrow morning......

Hope everyone has had a better day!

RNG, nice video. Hard to tell any elevation levels, but looks good. Those are some really big burn piles ! Going towards the culdesac area, are there big downed trees? Lots of firewood.....

Wet day (good!!!)
Deere dealer called...ZT major work is done...not cheap (about $1200), but overdue and, frankly, not work I was good at.
One thing I did ask for was to install bar turf tires (I supplied) since the are a couple areas that were a bit slick for turfs
Should be returned tomorrow (knock on wood) and should be like a brand new ZT (except for the hour meter, of course)
Way, way too wet to work outside...need to do some weed trimming, but not today...maybe Saturday...

Success!!!!
Actually got the BX all the way to the house without ruining the surprise. Sophie is very happy with it and that makes me happy.
She did let me drive it to park in the tractorshed. Unfortunately, didn’t get any good pics yet.

Pleasantly surprised, but the quoted price from last Sep was what I paid. I really expected to be told increase in trans cost. I keep hearing how the shipping from Ca to Hi has skyrocketed.

New tractors are the best kind! Congrats to Sophie.

Had my surgery today, minor complications caused some minor bleeding and pressure elevation. Had to go back for a little tweak, seems better now.

Randy, glad your complication was minor so you can continue on the road to full recovery.
David, How can you not include pics of a new tractor on your first new tractor post?
