When I stop to realize that I'm sitting here in a comfortable office chair, in a warm house, with broadband Internet, TV, and plenty to eat, that I'm not dodging missiles, drones, tanks, and artillery shells, somehow dealing with inflation doesn't seem quite so tough...
While it certainly beats lying in a ditch in the winter with only your clothing labels to read. It should not be minimized, there are others that are impact more than yourself, and the long term down side might eventually get to you/us.

Best,

ed

220 pesos for a bottle of Tanduay rum at puregold in Olongapoe mall. About $2.10 in US dollars. A bottle of coke to go with it was about 10 pesos.

I live like near 30 miles east of Naples , Fl very near you might say on the sw side of lower Fla where the everglades start . Was in Naples last week , felt like lunch so decided to try a Maine theme like lobster roll joint called My---c Lobster . Ordered a lobster roll and a bottle of water . I almost fell over when it arrived it was on like an 8" hoagie type bread with lobster meat , and the smallest little plastic cup of coleslaw you ever saw . I swear . I didnt think the lobster was even that tasty . I felt like I got screwed good . This little "sample" was $25 . Not includeing tip . Never again not even for free will I go there . Oh did I tell you's I left there "hungry " . Run from Myst-c Lobster ! ..........

$1.029 very interesting April 2020 start of pandemic, everything shut down, oil down to $20/bbl. I checked my truck record book back to 2008 and saw I was paying between $3.599 and $3.899 then. Sudden realization gas price horrible now, was horrible then (same station from 2008 today has $3.899 gasoline, $4.799 diesel, ironically same as fall of 2008).
I wasn’t paying anything near what I am fo fuel then as I am now no matter what state of the country I filled up in.
A person I know tried to say the same thing as you that it’s about the same. I showed him receipts and asked him for the same then his story changed dramatically.

Why would you take your vehicle to get fixed if it's not broke?
How many people do you know who do their own work, only going to the garage or things like alignments or to get the computer scanned?

Here are some fun (not so much) before and after. I was reordering some chemicals I use; I typically buy them every few years, so I went back in my order history.

Aug 2019
2.5G Glyphosate Plus - 61.90
1G Bifen XTS - 115
1G Imidacloprid - 70

Today
2.5G Glyphosate Plus - 136
1G Bifen XTS - 175
1G Imidacloprid - 120

Inflation at 10%. Yeah, sure. This is close to 2X in 3 years. And it's not like these are isolated to just field chemicals. I don't even want to talk about fertilizer, what's that up, 3X in the last few years?

Let's no go politcal here. First of all there is no "build back better", no bill was ever voted on. And blaming any US president for global fuel shortages or demand spikes is pretty asinine anyway. The US does not control petroleum pricing.

I remember paying $5 for diesel in Bush's last year also. Adjusted for inflation, that would be over $6.50 today.

Let’s not go political, then you went there.

Since I am Tesla driver I don't give too much :poop: about gas prices 😎

But y-day was time to refill tractor...

Friend of mine have developed strategy, how to fill car those times.
Just enjoy automatic payment.
Swipe card on reader, put "gun" in tank and let it run. Without looking on counter.
It's OK, if you cry at this moment. Few tears doesn't mean you are weak or broke.
Just wait the click, put gun back, head still down, without looking on figures. Just jump in car and leave ASAP. Dont look back, don't think about that
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As I am talking only about CUT, I allowed to hurt myself a little and I break those rules. I was looking on figures.
For tractor's diesel I have 10 Liters can.... To make it full takes 20.4 € o_O

I hate when that happens! It's why I stick to the places I go to to eat.

Was this supposed to be actual Maine lobster, or the local variant? If the former, I don't know why you are surprised. Getting lobsters shipped from Maine to Florida these days can't be cheap, if it ever was. Couple that with the establishment probably having to pay higher wages just to keep enough people to keep the place open, and you have the reason. While many businesses are swallowing as much of the added costs as they can, they just can't swallow all of them and survive.

Personally, I never eat lobster anyway, and I live a lot closer to Maine than you do. Too expensive for what it is. Always has been. Same thing for crab legs.

TJ suppose to be actual Maine lobster . I agree totally with your post . Just in pics of what one is suppose to get , etc they make it look bigger , etc . From the time I recieved my lunch and gobbled it down I musta been out of there in like nine minutes or less . I even felt like the employee's there knew it was a ripp off . Just won't ever return .

Btw way I know Maine well , Jackman , Rangley lakes region , Phillips , Rumford , Bar Harbor , and then some . I was just shareing my experience others may vary , lol .

I also only named the place because other places were named in this thread before I posted . Personally on a long term thing it would surprise me if that establishment will stay open long after there lease expires .

Let’s not go political, then you went there.
Was trying to be apolitical, by bluntly stating current facts and how presidents of either party dont control fuel prices. You labeling my reply as politcal really only shows your partisan bias while reading it, haha. I don't support either party and didn't certainly intend my message as such.

Anyway. You know what else is expensive right now? Gravel. Up 20-30% this year, seems like. Much of that is probably due to diesel prices.

My wife tracks our grocery bill on one credit card.
It is up 30% or so in the last 2 years, some items up over 50%.

As for blaming the war in Ukraine for the rise in gas/diesel , that is pure propaganda.

The prices went up before the war started and have only increased a bit since the war started.
One Oil guy (not a news bobble head) said even with cutting off all oil from russia, it would take 3 months for that to ripple through the supply line.

The Government does control oil pricing to some degree, since they can change supply routes and how much is held in reserve. We have reserves all over the US and Mexico. These reserves were increasing before the war leading to less in the supply chain.

The news feeds can't even spell or grammar check anymore.
