A buddy took his wife (2 up) on his tenere to Alaska last August/Sept.
August 2021 | 2 Ride The Globe
Was that a T7 or a Super Tenere?

Looks like a T7? but heard the passenger seat would not do for 2 up riding??
Oh,..... made it farther through the article

Two T7's?? one ridden in fact two up.

Great travel story and Great Pics.

Lately caught up watching Noraly Alaska adventure (Itchy Boots) although she is in S America in the part i am watching now.

ps. Totally AMAZED by Pol Tarres and his mastery of riding a T7 in the "Seeker Movie"

I'm lost on any motorcycle made after , say, the late 1980's. I can't fix them. They are phenomenal in performance, but I can't fix them. Well, I can't because the systems are beyond my understanding.

Why do you need to fix it. I don't need to fix my 2019 Goldwing, I just ride it. You got the wrong bike if you need to fix it.

Had a '98 Blackbird that was scary fast. Sold it to finance filling a new gunsafe and boy did it!

Current ride is a 1250 Bandit, not scary fast but still a blast on the "twisties." Don't ride her much now with the youngest curtain climbers running around but maybe when they are bigger. ;)

My 16 yo daughter asked me a tough question a couple of weeks ago...

If money wasn't a problem, and you could only own 1 motorcycle, which one would you get? (and it has to be brand new)

Compromises, compromises. Maybe one of these? I can dream big.

Here is my Hypermotard 950 SP
My T7 checks all my boxes, for now.

As it was yesterday, right before I took it for the first ride of the season. Just a small jaunt around our mountain, on dirt and paved roads. I forgot how much I love this bike.

Plans for this season: Cyclops fog lights, to address one of it's few weaknesses, seeing deer at night.
Install already purchased heavier duty shock spring.

I've put my 2014 FJR1300A up for sale. Not getting enough use to justify keeping it.

Too bad you couldn't have kept the Black Bird... a bike of all times. Scary Fast is the right label.

I got disgusted with all the covid refugees movin to Montana last year making motorcycle riding not very enjoyable. Sold my 2013 Ducati Mutlistrada 1200S GT. Now I only have a Chinese Hawk 250 dual sport for occasional puttin in the woods.
I'm proud to be an American, I have been to 49 states and been treated well or exceptionally well in all of them.
I loved Montana. Last visit was 40 years ago. My sister and her family lived in Kalispell. She liked it there.
If you ever find a perfect place - don't move there, you'll ruin it!

......New to me 2018 Z900 RS
Love the heated grips and other amenities. Haven't even cleaned it up yet still has the dust from storage at the PO. MPG cruising at 55 shows about 55-65 MPG if it gets 40 I will be a Happy camper.
With gasoline so high there'll probably be a lot of people looking to buy motorcycles this year. LOL as if we need more buyers in this crazy market.
I decided to go retro with an air cooled in-line 4 CB1100 and found this one in January. It's a 2014 that hadn't been ridden much (2,600 miles). The PO dropped it backing out of the garage and scratched the alternator cover but otherwise it had been garage kept and looked pretty good. I cleaned it up and replaced the alternator cover, original tires, as well as engine oil, brake, and clutch fluid. I also added the factory luggage rack which along with soft bags and quick release windshield should make it a capable tourer. I've only had the opportunity to take it out a few times but I really like this motorcycle; it's comfortable, the engine is very smooth, and the gearing seems perfect with the engine only turning 2,900 RPM at 60 MPH in 6th.
Last week when I was out riding around the local roads here I found myself thinking of my 1975 CB750 and the enjoyable rides I took on that motorcycle. I'm looking forward to doing more of the same on this one.

Is hard to make an economic argument in favor of motorcycles. 50 MPG is nice but when a cheap tire cost $100 plus $50 to mount and lasts less than 5,000 miles one spends as much for tires as gasoline. Not even the $200+$50 tire lasts much more than 8,000 miles. If not careful a sport bike tire lasts less than 2,000 miles.

A Prius is cheaper to drive. Same 50 MPG but for $600 out the door one can have (4) new tires with 80,000 mile tread warranty. And heater+air conditioning.

I don't ride due to the price of fuel, the price of mental health is what makes me do the deed.
Haha Alright, you kind of caught me there on my purchase.

But, have made a few town trips already and if "just" the fuel cost is counted- it looks good on paper as long as ALL the ancillaries/externalities are completely ignored.

Riding always puts a smile on my face.

The value Priceless:)

I bought my used 1980 SR 500, with 1,200 miles, in 1981, for 1,250 dollars. You can take a Topo map of Oregon and place your finger randomly any where on the map,... I have been there. Forty some odd years, driving in the middle of no where and the bike never let me down. :)

I've been into motorcycles for over 40 years. Was a factory tech for 15 and raced AFM for over 13 years.
Currently ride a ZX14, 1983 GS750E and a 1994 DR650

Mad

Welcome! Decided to lay in the shade eh?

I've been away from regular riding now for too long...I tell everyone, "John Deere gets my motorcycling money now."

I broke my right navicular in a stooopid m/c accident on my XT600. Had a knobby Metzeler front tire on it that the backside of the knobs had worn down to an angle...I was trying to supermotard on some slick asphalt and hit the front brake a bit too hard. Front end slipped away like I hit a greasy spot. I had to give up sport bikes, because I can only apply down pressure on wrist for a short while. :(

I'm strongly considering something like the "Honda Trail 90" A CT110 is the latest edition IIRC.

I think I would ride it more often than the VFR when not going anywhere.

I could easily make over the Moto Morini 500 to do the same thing... Open tread tires a rear sprocket , wider handlebars and control cables would do it.

Hmm... What would I do with the KLR650?

Stop. Stop,

Now you got me thinking "Again" about a T7, CB 500X, CRF300 Rally or maybe that new Norden "Husky" 901

Maybe I will use you guys for "Normal" examples with the wife ,

Gee Honey, Bunch of the Guys over on TBN Always keep a varied stock of motorcycles at all times.
Seems like a great idea to me - never know when a backup or different style or spare for a friend will be needed.

It's best to keep a little something "in your pocket".

I've had 5 different motorcycles which I rode for over 40 years until age related self preservation kicked in. I now ride an electric bicycle, mostly on trails.
