Thats where you need a recording device, sound or video to get his words on tape.
If there is a next time it will be recorded. At 63 I am still learning the technology.....

yes mine and others. We are walkers ( my wife and I ) and this punk likes to stop and yell at people mainly seniors and women from his car and threaten them. Not a nice guy nor a nice family. When I walk alone he just glares and keeps driving.
Wow, what a douche. Theres a lot to consider when we move into a new neighborhood. One of the biggest overlooked things is WHO are new neighbors will be and how do they live/interact.

When I first moved in my “hood” 12 years ago, we had some trouble like you are having.

1. Kids parking in full de sac drinking & fornicating. Accompanied with the aftermath of prophylactics and empty beer/weed items left behind: I took care of that with some very hostile & uncomfortable confrontations in the middle of the night with baseball bat in hand. After about the 4th one, the repeat offenders found another persons property somewhere else in which to engage in their activities.

2. Dog walkers on my lawns: This one was a bit easier. I have 2 very well meaning dog-owning neighbors that short-cut with their 4 legged friends though my lawn to get to their homes. Less confrontational. Just walked out to them and told them I’d appreciate it if they’d take “Sumo” and “Willie” somewhere else to drop their 2 pound piles of wonderful aromas instead of my back yard where my kids play. No real objections. Done and over with.

3. Crazy jacked up truck/wild teenage boy: This one was tough as the trips down our road by him were random and so fast, you couldnt see him. He nearly ran over my daughter (8 y.o. at the time). My next door neighbors driveway is at the end of our cup de sac. He would fly past my house and down my neighbors driveway. My neighbors driveway actually connects to yet another private road on which this dumpy little punk lived. Neighbor and I installed a gate at both ends of his driveways and that was the end of him. he paid me to do it. We both benefitted.

4. Crazy renter attack: This one was partially my fault. My daughter (now grown up) did not understand “polite driving distance from other cars”. IOW, she tailgated a gentleman renting a small cottage on my neighbors property down our road. He was very irritated. Later that evening, the renter hid in my bushes and ambushed me at the end of my driveway on my nightly trip to put my outgoing mail in my mailbox. Upon his first volley at me, I grabbed him by his neck. My wife had it all on cell phone video and I asked him if he’d like to be hurt very badly or go to jail reminding him that he was trespassing on my property and took the first swing. He relaxed and walked away. He since moved out. I had a stern talking to with my daughter.

16 year old drivers are a nightmare.….

Otherwise its been a wonderful experience living in my neighborhood :)

My sister and BIL are dealing with this at their camp... except that it's mostly people who have moved in beyond the pond. The road is only about 25 feet from the water so everybody's camps and homes are on the other side. Crossing the road sometimes you are taking your life into your own hands. Speed limit is 25, many are doing twice that. He's tried everything including go to the town selectmen but they don't care to do anything. I suggested some of those moveable speed bumps but apparently only the town can put those out; and won't.

well TBN team the state police with the sheriff department came yesterday took another statement and then the punk was arrested and charged. So at least that is progress. thanks for listening and I appreciate the well intentioned advice. The other older couple he vandalized we set up a camera last night for him so that he can get proof

yes
and the SP will charge him again.
Sorry to read of your troubles. I think that you are on the right path, even if it means some white knuckling in the short term.

Good luck, and you might consider a camera watching your camera. Around here we have had trouble with perpetrators getting wise to the first/"obvious" camera and approaching it from the blind side to steal/disable it.

All the best,

Peter

When I was building our garage addition last year, I was hunched down working on something and all of a sudden I hear a dog panting next to my head. I look over and the neighbor's german shepard that is always chained up and barking wildly at me is standing there about 6" from my face. YIKES!

I calmly said "Hello." and he immediately started slobbering up the side of my face. Whew! Dog had the drop on me!

Since then, we are best buds.
As a former Shepherd owner he was likely begging you to release him from the chain he obviously didn't hold a grudge when he finally met you!

The law should be that you must get a permit to own a dog, and only one dog per household. And that permit can be revoked with enough complaints.
Tell me about your cats?

I should have specified that he's not always chained up. He lives in the house, they take him for walks, throw a ball for him in the back etc. But 3-4 times a day they put him out on the chain from the back door of the house so he can go and do his business unattended. I'd never seen him loose and unattended before, and had never been formally introduced. ;)

Bad neighbor with uncontrolled dogs. Makes you want to "put a wippin' " on the neighbor. Better choice - chain the fellow to some crappy little dog house and throw scraps at him for a week. See how he enjoys that.

I like that idea. I've told this story before... I took a shortcut to a friend's house one cold January evening a couple of decades ago.
it's a road where you never meet another car. I saw something in my headlights up ahead, as I got closer I saw a little kitten sitting on the center of the gravel road, most likely it hadn't moved since somebody opened their door and dropped it. The darned thing was barely big enough to be away from it's mother. I couldn't keep it, my friends had two dogs and she didn't like cats so I stopped by a farm I drove past and they agreed to put it out in the barn with the rest of the cats. In hindsight after picking the kitten up I could have stepped on the gas and probably caught up with the driver who had done it but it's also a good thing I didn't... I could be pretty ignorant back then.
It would have been poetic justice if his car had broken down out there and he had learned what it was like to be stranded in the cold.

An update if anyone is interested. He was arrested and charged by NYSP and we have gone to court twice. So far he is still not willing to accept responsibility so is steal pleading not guilty. So it may end up as a bench trial which is fine with me the video is pretty clear. But the wheels of justice turn very slowly.

Thank you for the update. I will be interested to hear whether he changes his plea or gos to trial. If it go's to trial,it might be interesting to hear whether his defense is "That's not me in those videos" or "I was within my rights to do what I did" or "The Devil made me do it".

Yes, will be interesting to see how the charges are played out.

He will plead guilty and pay a fine the day before trial. Were i the judge $500 fine, restitution to complaintant,3 days community service cleaning up popular roadside "poop in the weeds" sites furnished by those who maintain rest areas. Don't know what one of those poop in the weeds sites look like? If you ever make the trip accross the Talimena National Scenic Byway, there is a large, modern rest stop midway on drive. Walk 25 yards into the forest in any direction to witness what not just a couple but hundreds do instead of using the modern facility.

That was my introduction to New York, the first time that I worked there. I pulled over in a roadside stop to walk my dog, and had to dodge the piles of crap and toilet paper. Granted I was there to let my dog do the same. However, I also was carrying a shovel and bag to clean it up.
That's to be expected though, when you have miles and miles of highway with no facilities for travelers to use.

I'm old enough to remember when we left our dogs at home.

That’s pretty hard to do when you’re gone for 3 weeks at a time. What would be the sense of having a dog if it was just going to live at the kennel? Mine aren’t fluff pets anyways… they go out in the woods while I’m working.

Go for a walk. Take a gun. If the dogs are on public property and act aggressive, shoot to kill the dog. Better yet, take a video of the dogs actions.

Dog is the owners responsibility.

Sorry to say, you have butthole neighbors.
Then you get fined for shooting from a public roadway. Keeps people from hunting from roads.
