The steering cylinder on my JD 1070 is leaking pretty badly. I have ordered new seals for both the cap (gland) as well as the piston. I suspect my leak is the seal between the gland and the body of the cyliner. My question is how to get the cap (gland) off? A picture is attached. If i put a pipe wrench on the smaller diameter steel lip, it rotates fairly free. It does not appear to be threaded into the body of the cylinder. There is a snap ring on the outside of the cap, not shown in the picture.

Does anyone have any advice/experience? This one has me stumped! Thanks for your help! cylinder_1070.JPG
