15°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 39° today. Sure would be nice to get that sheet of ice off the concrete by the garage.

Puttered with mostly inside stuff yesterday. Wife wanted Chinese for dinner, so I went to pick that up and realized that was the first time I'd been in my car since Tuesday evening. I like those long stretches without having to leave the house.

I have never been to Florida, BEF. Closest I've been is Ft. Benning, Georgia for a graduation ceremony for my oldest stepson.

Hope your knee is OK, Don.

Don, sorry to hear about the fall. My Doc told me it would be nearly impossible to damage the hardware, but the surrounding soft tissue / tendons and muscles are susceptible to injury.
Good Afternoon. 53˚F. This seems to be the case with the knee LS. feeling better today but last night I regressed back to feeling like week 2, needing a cane. Finally got to sleep about 3a.m. after pain pills. I think the anchors held but still sore. Just taking it easy today.

David, great job on the studio / caretaker suite. Is the backsplash ceramic or wood (laminate)?

Ted, backsplash behind sink is porcelain tile (left over from shower). Still needs.grout and sealing.
Backsplash behind non sink counter is laminate (same as floor and end wall by stove.

My wife took yesterday pretty hard. Callie, until she started having trouble getting around, slept on my wife’s pillow at night. And was the alarm cat. Like an alarm clock during the week, she would start howling at 4:28 AM. My wife’s alarm is set for 4:30! I took my wife to dinner last night, we ended up talking about some of the cats we have had over the years. There have been some real characters. Think it did both of us some good. The other 2 keep looking for her. Thanks for all of the comments.
Those special moment to cherish.

Good evening all. This is shaping up to be a bitter night, Max has been going crazy at the sound of the wind throwing sleet against the windows. I can only hope the ewes out in the field have found their lambs a good sheltered spot until morning. Those born this week are more fortunate, safely under cover for the night - maybe that is why they looked so smug this afternoon.

There was another thread this morning about an English farmer that pushed a trespasser's car off his property with a tractor.....Eric, I instantly thought of you.....
At least there is some justice out there....
LS, thanks for showing that, hadn't realised his trial was over. I am really pleased the jury decided that farmer is a decent man and that the car driver was a thug who got what he deserved.

Before I had my knee replaced, the hospital sent me an invitation to visit for an orientation. The invitation I got said I could bring visitors if I wished, so my wife and daughter went along. The orientation was done by a nurse and one of the things she did was pass around samples of the material that would be used to replace the knee. I can tell you that my wife, my daughter, AND I were surprised at how heavy that stuff was.

Seems they got more icing south of here BEF. Lots of reports of power outages south of here. Hopefully your dad has a good supply of wood.
!

Our oldest cat, the one with diabetes, keeps having bathroom issues. We’ve had to take it to vet twice lately for that, and now have to squirt laxative down it’s throat. We have started talking about when it’s time.

My brother near Cambridge shot a drone video of the ice the other day. It was still snowing some when he flew.

My sister went out to dad’s today, tried to get him to come to their house, but he wouldn’t. Power company says may be 3 more days before his power is restored.
He has plenty of wood, many cords of really seasoned wood in the barn. He has enough inside to last him thru this. He has large wood furnace in basement.

Well I did something stupid tonight. I went to cover a plant in the backyard that I uncovered today and I forgot about the ice still on the patio.
I fell and my new knee was stretch to beyond Egore pain but in a sideways direction. My yell alerted Whipper who alerted my wife that something outside was not right and my wife calmly helped me back into the house. I'm Icing the knee now still shaking. I hope it does not swell up too bad and I didn't mess anything up . . . arrrg.

Don, I hope the swelling goes down, and the pain goes away and you are alright.
