What's wrong with Canadians?

Mine is always outdoors and it was -23C overnight.
I did one cycle of glow plugs and it fire up within 3-4 revolutions and out to plow/blow that abundance of dandruff.

Guess my CUT is acclimatized to Canadian colds, EH!

You bet! My ‘09 BX25 has only faild to start once, and so I just plugged in the block heater and after a while it fired right up! Plugged it in again last nite, just to be safe. And a good thing, too - I woke up to a -42°F wind Chill!

The problem with Canadians is that they are too darn smart. Ask a Canadian to name all fifty of the US States and most can do it. Most "Americans" can't name more than three Canadian Providences.

I work with a Geologist who is Canadian. He came in my office one morning and asked me if I knew the three types of rocks. Yep, Leaverite, Crusherite, and Maybelaters.

He looked dumbfounded, and the other Engineers in the room started laughing.

It is sad how poorly many adults understand basic science. The news anchor banter during our recent near freezing snap included warning people to protect their pipes from freezing since the feels like temperature would be -10C.

Worse yet, the “meteorologist” was part of the banter.

I blame most of this on The Weather Channel...
They're the ones who started (stupidly, IMHO) naming snow events and sensationalizing the forecasts...all in the name of ratings.
Pretty sure, but not positive, TWC also started this foolishness about "real feel" which is utter BS.
The wind chill...I can understand that, but "real feel" is complete subjectivity (i.e. a WAG)

If I am going to be out in it, the “Real Feel” does matter. If it is 19F, with no wind, and clear skies, it really does feel like it is near the mid to high thirties in the sun, if being a little active. Now step behind something, into the shade and stand still, and it rapidly begins to feel like the actual 19F it is.

When you’re figuring out how many layers of what you want to put on before you go out, it is nice to know both. And, maybe dress for the warmer, and carry a jacket for the cooler.

The original founder of the Weather Channel had a great concept. I’m talking like 30 years ago. He sold it and it became an advertising gold mine. I have seen him interviewed on TV. Seems like a good man rooted in meteorology

True!!! I hadn't thought about that... Naming every storm, ridiculous. Everything todays has to be an "Event"...
