I drive a car that the front window posts (air bags) are so thick that the passenger side one actually hides a school bus on my right when I'm at an intersection.
Then the side windows are so high up that I can't see a compact car if its passing me on my right in traffic, and I'm 6ft.
Mirrors should, but don't help all that much, OK if he's slow, but if he's passing fast I can miss him in a blink.
Lots of today's cars have lots of glass but plastic inner trim greatly reduces the usable glass.
