Was that the Burlington Skyway bridge on the QEW ? It's insanely too high for that windy area.

And the other bridges seem high too.

Even driving a 15-passenger van over those bridges is white knuckles. So, in the GPS, I found other routes. The RED route was the dangerly high bridge. The orange was the lower bridge.

No. It was to Picton Ont.
This one was shut down to high profile vehicles (pretty sure it was this one)

The other bridge from Belleville to Picton actually had a semi flip over, but it was a little lower in height and they kept it open
so I used it.

Hard to tell but the second bridge is a lot lower than the first.

Wow, better hope there isn't a speed bump somewhere in there...
I never saw them because I avoid the place, but co-workers tell me about a couple overpasses in Montreal that are even marked as too low (without warning so you can re-route). They stop to assess and another local truck comes by and says no problem - you will fit. Then takes off under the overpass. Sure enough they fit.
Makes you wonder why they don't change the low clearance sign.
I'm convinced there's a traffic center in Montreal where they sit and watch the cameras and laugh at the torture that city puts trucks through. Like closing the major hwy, marking it with a detour sign, then as soon as you're off the hwy there are no more signs to tell you where to go.
I saw a detour sign once that was behind a tree. Caught it last second out of the corner of my eye.

That's probably even worse today. Everyone wants their free overnight shipping, but you better not drive too fast to get it there. Or too slow, in the wrong lane, in front of the wrong motorist or,,,
Screw them, they can wait!

Standard drivers license covers you to 26001 lbs in most states. Driving commercially, you need a DOT med card and regular drivers license for anything between 10,000lbs to 26,001 lbs (single vehicle or vehicle with trailer) as long as it doesn't have air brakes. If it has air brakes, then you need to bump up to a CDL.

Hauling passengers, you need a class C.

Driving a half ton pickup commercially doesn't require a DOT med card. But as soon as they latch onto a trailer and throw some equipment or tools on it so the combined weight puts you over 10,000 lbs then you need to have a med card.

There are tons of people running around in commercial trucks and vans regularly that aren't technically legal and could get popped with a ticket if pulled over by DOT. Plumbers, roofers, landscapers, construction workers, home builders, cabinet installers, counter top installers, ect.....

HVAC guy here, my box truck plus 7x16 dump trailer is 13,000 lbs. not sure how much the truck is by itself, real close to 10k. I often wonder why yet don’t pull me over, trailer doesn’t have a current plate either

Most are not writing many tickets nowadays.
