I know I said earlier that only one more post but some things have come to my attention.
A local middle of nowhere restaurant in the county called Southern Reds BBQ started cooking and delivering meals almost before the tornado had passed. They have delivered more than 60,000 meals to workers in Mayfield. According to a common friend he has totally worn out his grills. Well, let me see if I can copy and paste her post.
"60,000 meals coming out of
Micah Seavers humble facility since the life altering tornado just one week ago tonight. Do the math on that one.
So Micah puts his business on hold and makes use of every donation directed his way.
There are times when CASH is King (just talking material here not biblical!). This might be a great time to consider making cash donations to Micah so he can keep the good work flowing. We all know he’s still got to pay the light bill and all those other fixed expenses.
A very proactive young lady brought this too my attention yesterday and I think she has a great point!"
“Southern Reds BBQ owner Micah Seavers immediately jumped into action when his restaurant was spared in Pilot Oak: just two hours after the storm had passed Seavers said he was cooking up meals for first responders. He says he has already given out over 60,000 meals to residents of affected areas.”
We will probably drop a Ben Franklin on him to help a little. He is also the county skunk catcher. And other nuisance critters. We have used his services for skunks. Since he also ran the eatery I was worried about what would happen to the skunks but he assured me that they would not be BBQed. They are not as countryfied as they act on their Facebook page AND if you want to help out, please consider helping one of the helpers.
Also had some more junior high kids at the oldest daughter's school who had homes totally destroyed that we are supplying part of Christmas. Daughter has put lists on some kind of teacher forum and had everything on the lists disappear in less than thirty minutes. She texted my wife before she posted the last list and still most had disappeared before she could get there. Local food trucks are working nonstop transporting meals. Also trucks from elsewhere in the state have been transporting food.
Scammers have already been in the area posing as FEMA people. Graves and Calloway Sheriffs stopped a six vehicle caravan on a back road and arrested everyone in it. They had brought trailers and loaded up wrecked cars and were hauling them off probably to strip and sell the parts. Also Caldwell County Sheriff Department arrest four from Michigan who travelled to Kentucky to steal what they could.
There is a Facebook page that people are posting things on they have found that the tornado dropped half the state away. Trying to return them to owners. Some people trying to help, some try to steal.
Life goes on....
