Nobody that I know has seen the Red Cross here in Mayfield.
I have NOT gone downtown to the heavily damaged areas yet. Just around the outskirts. Too many sightseers blocking traffic and getting in the way.
Man from Florida flew in to Nashville and rented a car, and drove here. On the way he called florists all over the area. One donated $30,000 in flowers to start a memorial wall.
I refused food twice today because I did not loose anything in the storm. Was just inconvenienced for a few days so I don’t need free meals. Leave all that to those that need it. There are organizations, churches, and even individuals flocking in from everywhere to feed Mayfield. You literally cannot drive down the street without somebody trying to feed you or throw supplies thru your window.
Marshal County directly to our east was also hit HARD. We drove thru the main town, Benton, Monday and the tornado just barely missed by less than 200 yards on the north side. Only damage in the town, at least insured by daughter’s agency, was some travel trailers turned over and a small jet boat pitched thru a beauty parlor’s window. That’s one for the record books. BUT, daughter said over 100 homes they insured were totally destroyed. Also a residential area around Moors Campground and Resort was completely destroyed. Oldest S-I-L been there dawn to dusk when not at work.
Life goes on!
