About a year ago I saw where McDonald's was working on robotic technology. The spokesperson said although robots are expensive they can work 24/7, no health insurance, vacations, lawsuits, etc. He said there's a point at which the workers demanding more wages and benefits the robots are a more feasible option.
I can't see how the employer is to blame, people unwilling to start at minimum wage making more demands of the company robots make sense.
People are going to counter with "but people need to make a living wage", but the company has a legitimate point.
When I look at inflation calculators I made less than equivalent minimum wage today, sometimes working two jobs, and back then jobs were hard to find.

Won't be long before we realize if we cut out the middle animal and we can survive healthy on plants - greens, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and fruit. Then you can cut out more doctor EV trips and billions of dollars of health care that can be use for solar panels. Any talk in California about making meat illegal? Just wait.
I think that the Eskimos should be informed/warned of all this!

Yes, but we have never tried anything like that in a larger scale, have a large part of the population living without any hope is very dangerous for all.
And we spend $70k/year for incarcerating folks, folks who, if we'd spent some money on them for education and a modest stipend might actually be cheaper. The real welfare is going to the prison-industrial complex (but in the name of "capitalism" it's promoted because it's not going to the poor and less fortunate [Jesus would be banned from the US!]).

I don't propose any "solutions" (the very word denotes finalization, and as long as there is TIME nothing can be said to be finalized). But, I can readily point out the absurdities and call them out.

Better to invest in yourself than to be rolled over by a changing economy. I don't think that at 50 you are too old to learn.
At the mercy of the "economy," the "entity" that was codified in our genetics. I get what you're pointing at, that life is all about adjusting to change and all. I just with to point out that societies, and I'll surely put the rapid capitalists into cardiac arrest here, are collectives and can, as a collective, determine the functioning of their social actions.

I once worked at an international/global company (very respected) and had a boss inform we that were were going to be clipped with "pagers" when outside of work, with no mention of compensation- "because that's what other companies are doing." I, figuratively, turned the meeting table over, pounding my fists and replying that that was other companies and that WE have a say in how WE conduct our business. I often would state that the agreement was that I wouldn't bring home to work if the company didn't say I had to take work home. [I would regularly walk out of work with projects in his head, always churning through issues- it was about MY choice.]

Big corporations are telling us what kind of society we're to have. One can pretend that that's not the case, but the reality IS what it is: POWER will dictate things ;but at some point the masses WILL collectively revolt (seems history is pretty clear on this part).
