29 going to 58. Nice for a December day. Buppies, any chance of snow here on the 24th or 25th?

Found a tree that passed my QC supervisor, had to take it off the top of a 24ft cedar...brought it into the house and strung lights last night. She said, that actually looks good. (y)

My dad is famous for his Christmas trees from the farm, tops he’d cut off, etc. don’t recall ever having a bought tree growing up. If there is a space in a tree, he’d drill a hole and add a branch. Lol

Morning all, 34 and going up.
Did not get much done yesterday or much sleep.

One year in MA we went and cut a tree, was a lot of snow and we used our snowshoes.
Went back in the spring to see if we needed to tend the tree.

could not find it, until we looked up, quit a bit up.
We were on a big snow drift and cut the top 7' of a 50' or so tree....

Stay safe and be well,

Good Morning.
It’s 41 and might crest 50 today under clear skies.

Yesterday’s main chore was to deal with wife’s car. Six spark plugs and one coil pack later, the light seems to off for good. Now have to drive it enough to set all the readiness monitors so it can pass emission inspection by the end of the month.

I did swap my 80 cu ft Argon bottle for a 122. Had to pay a small upcharge for the bottle, because I own, rather than rent them. But the larger bottle should hold me for a while, even though TIG is my process of choice, especially with the new welder. I used to favor oxy/acetylene for small jobs, and stick for big ones.

Daughter came and picked up her dog, we have had her for the last two weeks, while daughter settled into new place across the state. She’s back here for two weeks off between contracts and then goes back to work at the same hospital for another 8 weeks. She is taking the dog back with her.

Today starts off with my Tuesday morning breakfast with a good friend. He retired early from a partnership in a NYC law firm, got bored and went back to school for a Masters in education. He taught history at the college level until he retired again. When I asked him what motivated him to go back to school, he said “the amount of damage that he could do to society was pretty limited, but as an educator, it could last for generations”. That pretty much sums up his dry sense of humor.

After that, I’m not sure what I’ll get into. I have some ductwork that I have been meaning to do in my finished basement to better balance the temperatures, especially when doors are closed.

We always cut cedar tops, always full.

Good morning! 27° now, was 23° when I got up. Supposed to get to 51 or so today.

Sitting here waiting to see if the steering wheel holder shows up to move the machine. If so, going to be LONG day. We plan on doing the delivery today yet today due to schedules. If not today, likely early next week.

@mostly_gas - I didn't keep a log. And I actually thought I had forgotten most of it. But each day it comes back clearly. Like my stay in the hospital, I am wanting this to end.

So to continue...there are not many days left.

I had the usual morning blood draw and the ****** Youth showed up and trashed everything. Waited and got on the iPad and checked the outcome. The blockage had changed shape, but did not shrink.....

Kandi asked me if I thought I could take my meds by mouth, tried it, it worked. It also meant she left the NG tube off longer. Which I was all for. There was VERY little material coming out of my stomach. She also decided it was time to stop wasting time and test strips testing me for diabetes. My blood sugar level had never been a problem and now was below normal. Which means I was about normal for me on blood sugar. She prepped my left arm for the pick line since it was scheduled for around 10 in the morning.

So the wait started. She came in just before 10 and told me it was being pushed back a little. So I waited some more. And waited. The time kept getting pushed back. Finally about 2, they came and took me to have the pick line installed. This was the first time I had left my room in step down since I had been moved there. It would be the only time I left it until I was discharged.

The tech's took me to have the pick line installed, they moved me onto a table which was a struggle, I was pretty weak by this point. Doctor came into to do the procedure. I actually knew him. We talked briefly, he prepped my arm, and it was installed. Then back to the room.

When I got back to the room, fairly quickly Kandi showed up with 2 feed bags (my term). One was lipid fats, the other was some sort of liquid nutrient. I asked Kandi if they scraped the griddle at Wendy's for the lipid fats. She laughed. She hooked me up and adjusted the drip rate.

Literally within 2 hours, I was feeling somewhat better. I had a little bit of energy and the brain fog was lifting. That would only improve over time.

Dr. Deb A was in and checked on how my stomach was handling the water and meds. She was pleased there were no issues. She listened to my abdomen and was pleased with the sounds she was hearing. I could actually feel some activity from that area.

During the night, I began to have issues with the NG tube. It felt like it was actually pulling at my stomach. There were times I could see a little blood in the suction line. I got the night shift nurse to adjust things several times which only delayed the same reaction. Finally, early in the morning, it was shut off for the last time...….

Everyone stay safe out there!

You had to bring up Dad's :)
My Dad was known for his harvest technique - A 12 gauge. Usually one shot. We didn't need big trees.
He'd go out rabbit or deer hunting and he'd just blow the tree off. Always had the landowners permission.
Uncle was staying with us one time he did that and was really surprised. Dad hadn't told him he had already talked to the landowner.

Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 5:45AM. Light rain this morning. Breaks of sun this afternoon. High 47F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 90%.
Wow! Not quite dancing in the rain yesterday, but did get drenched on each of the two trips I made up to the mailbox. Well, the duster got drenched, everything on me except my face was dry as a bone underneath. All told, I collected 2.86" of rain yesterday, with an additional 0.13" since midnight. But the wind was something else yesterday. Very gusty, averaging about 30 MPH, with one gust hitting 48 MPH. High enough to steal another one of the hummingbird feeders, and almost a couple of door mats. It was hard to keep my hat on, even with the chin strap so tight it was uncomfortable. I'm wondering if I should get up on top of the steel porch cover and check for loose screws. We're not out of the woods yet, as flood warnings have been issued for today in the fire burn scars.

Your attorney come teacher friend's sense of humor ain't funny, Paul. Some of what passes for teaching these days borders on brain washing, and I can't say the rest in this forum. I've been using the 122 cu. ft. bottles for a couple years now. They're the biggest ones I can lift by myself.

Lots of deserted roads in eastern California and Nevada, Drew. But you never know what might be coming around the bend at the end of the straightaway. Years ago I was finding out what the only brand new BMW motorcycle I've ever purchased would do out on the edge of the Blackrock Desert. I saw a buck and a quarter (not bad for a big overgrown dirt bike), then shut it down to let my buddy catch up, just as cop car came around that corner. I was doing 65 when the radar detector went off, and he gave me a dirty look as he went by. I was worried my pal would get nailed trying to catch up, but for once he was behaving himself.

Ken, the light ball came out nice. Do the colors of the lights cycle through the rainbow?

The gummint is bringing back mandatory mask wearing indoors state wide starting the day after tomorrow. They say it's because of increasing infection rates. No mention of Omichron in the news report, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were already wide spread here.

Spent some quality time stoking the wood stove yesterday, sitting near it reading a book. Also got the saddlebag mounts installed on the touring bike, and it's ready to hit the road for the New Year's trip. Now if the weather would only cooperate. Just in case it doesn't, I'm going to start back on the van, getting some more sound deadening material installed on the walls in back. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes the contact cement to set up in these cool temperatures.

RNG - wife wanted pink for this light sphere, so no changing colors.
She wants green for the next one, just waiting for some supplies to start.

Also need to weld up the mower deck, but no rush there.

Was hoping to make legs for my Ash benches and tables, but no luck, or too pricey.
