I am really curious what the criteria, algorithm, what have you, is for their decisions on who gets what and when. Our 5 month wait compared to your apparent 12-18 month wait just doesn't seem fair or justifiable especially since you placed your name in the queue 3 months ahead of us. My condolences, but no, we won't ship ours to you.

The 'waiting line' is actually a waiting queue for every cell. Starlink divides up the geography into 13 mile wide octagons (hexagons?) that are used to determine service location. If you're the first person in a cell you probably will get service quickly. If your local cell is full and there are other people in the cell in the waiting queue before you then you likely will be waiting a long time. But a cell next to you may have an entirely different situation.

I got mine on the roof with volcano mount and flashing mount kit. It had an obstruction every 21 seconds when I had it in the ground. Even with that Netflix and Amazon prime streamed without interruption. I got an apple tv subscription to watch Foundation and it would freeze up every 3-5 minutes and then not remember the spot and start over from the beginning. Very annoying! Now that it's on the roof appletv works without problems and I still have one tree to take down to clear up the east edge of the sky for it, but it's no hurry since things are working so well.

The Verizon Gateway LTE Home Internet equipment was ordered 11/1 and arrived as promised on 11/4. Installation was easy once I discovered it was plug & play. There were no instructions provided and navigating the Verizon website to find product information was problematic.

I'm getting 45 mbs down and 4 up. Slow by Starlink standards but 15X faster than my existing DSL service. So far, I have 10 devices connected and all work normally. There are 2 Ethernet ports on the router/modem which I may try to use with another router if necessary.

I assume that everyone here actually needs Starlink, unlike some other folks I know who have 300MB/s WiFi ISP service, or even one guy who has fiber, and still signed up for Starlink.

I have fiber on my street, not to my house. Max speed to a residence is 100Mb down for $150/month. Install costs for buried fiber cable is about $8500... not happening. Same company will provide 2Gb download to business. :( My only other option is ViaSat... again, not happening. Come on Starlink, M-L 21.

Verizon hot spot is what I've been using. Not too bad in the mornings(10mbs)but from about 4pm to 10pm every evening it would average 0.3mbs. Testing Starlink it is from 200-230mbs no matter what time I do it!

We had just closed on this place and had assumed that since we are at the end of a 1-1/4 mile private road and power comes in from a different direction, below us and 1 mile from hwy. 97 that no high speed internet was available. The previous owner, a woman in her 80s, had Dish TV but that was the only outside communication other than a landline phone. When we heard about Starlink, my brother immediately put in his order. He is blind and virtually lives on his computer It was only after we moved in here that the wireless option was made known to us. I just checked our speeds using the wireless service, about 20 Mbps down and .75Mbps up. Adequate, but not all that good. During peak hours we barely get 5 Mbps. We have spotty cell service through Verizon. I have to go stand by the north fence to get 1 bar and any sort of internet connection through them, and they have the best signal in the area.

I've had Verizon's LTE Home Internet for about a year. It feeds off of a tower 3/4 mile from my house and is good enough to stream Netflix etc. The speeds, however, rarely hit 50 mbps that they advertise. They usually are 10-15 during the evening, 35-40 in the morning and at times below 10. The worst part of the service, in my opinion, is the router. It can only handle a limited amount of devices you can have connected to it before the WiFi dies (I have a few Ubiquiti access points, Ubiquiti Nanostations (to get internet at our barns) and a bunch of Wyze cameras). I tried to substituting their router with the MoFi router I was using with the Ubifi service but Verizon could tell and made me use their router or lose the service. So I had an IT guy install a Ubiquiti Security Gateway which solved the problem.
Easiest solution to that is to use a wifi repeater. It grabs the signal from the Verizon device and broadcasts its own wifi signal. Then the Verizon device only thinks it is supporting one device.

I use a couple of those, fair warning, you will get drop off from them.

I just checked our speeds using the wireless service, about 20 Mbps down and .75Mbps up. Adequate, but not all that good. During peak hours we barely get 5 Mbps.

Just set up the Starlink and have quite an improvement over wireless. Using speedtest.net we got about 225 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. That is very comparable to the cable internet we had at our previous place.

When you checked for obstructions with the Starlink app what did you get for % of obstructions? When I check I get anywhere from 1.32 % to 2.86 % depending on where I test from. Is that higher than what you got, I have several trees showing up in gray area. Thanks

Weird, when I do the check sky app it doesn't give me a percentage, it tells me the expected minutes between outages..I'd guess I have at least that much blockage. There are some tree tops in the east and west edges if the sky area. When I had it on the ground it was WAY more than 3%, the Starlink app would show 8-10hours of outages per 24hr period! Even with that it would stream without interruption...

Yes. So you connect the several devices that really need speed directly to the router that can only handle 10 devices. Things like your smart lights and stuff you connect to the secondary router. They don't need the higher speeds and lower ping times.

I just downloaded the app on Friday, maybe they have changed it some. When I check for obstructions it has you move the cell phone around till it reaches 100% then you wait till it processes the data and then it tells you you might want to find a different location. It has a red bar above the main wording that if you tap it , it will tell you frequent interruptions in 4 categories and below the 4 categories you have ___ % obstructions. When I am scanning it shows a good many tree tops in the gray area. Today I tries several more locations and my lowest came up .60 % obstructions 1 category came up good the second had a few interruptions and the last 2 said frequent interruptions. I may have to get the chainsaw to work on several trees. Hope to hear from others .

Where I mounted it it, app said I had an obstruction every 4 mins and suggested I try another location, but that was the best location I had so I used it. The app showed the count down to 100% while scanning, but never gives me a % obstructed. It's works though!

Finally paid a deposit today. They gave me early to mid 2022 estimate. I should have ordered earlier but I'm a procrastinator.

You may have missed the boat, lol.

I ordered mine in Feb 2021 and was told mid to late 2021 and I still have not received more information or the dish. Won't be long before I run out of 2021. Hope your luck is better than mine.

I pre-ordered last February, my account still shows mid to late '21. I've found out I can get T-Mobil 5G internet so if nothing happens with Starlink pretty soon I may go with T Mobil at least for a while until Starlink is up and running.

Curious to see what the power usage is on the new dish. Sucks wired Ethernet is moving to an add-on device instead of integrated.

I plan on using it when doi g some RV traveling, whenever they permit mobile or semi-mobile use. The 75-120 watts the current one pulls isn't super great if you are running off batteries.
