Didn't you say in a post recently that you don't have good luck most of the time, I guess "good" is relative!! I'm not lucky enough to have someone gift me a sawmill.
It sounds like it isn't a one way street though. He does help manage a shooting range... whatever that entails in Canada.

And a tractor, and a loader, and a snow blower....
He's sort of getting me to take away all the stuff he hasn't used in years that he considers junk
but I say "one mans trash......"

What's the scrap value for an old JD850 dozer with a torn up transmission?
(I'm kidding, that would be taking advantage of someone's generosity.)
He should part it out. Probably some things on it people would pay for. Cylinders etc.
When it broke he just bought another one. When his heavy excavator broke, he bought another.
When he got annoyed doing snow removal with his 80hp Foton he bought a brand new Wacker Neuson
loader with a front blower.

Same as the US but with MUCH more Gov interference and laws. We have 1700 members. A lot of administration.
Thanks for pointing this out. I thought maybe I was sounding like I was telling tall tales over the stuff I was given.
Any time I mention paying for something, or tell him he's giving me too much stuff for free he says "it's for all the
work you do around here". (Like make him 300k a year and all he has to do is deposit the cheque).

If the wheel is producing a flat face are you going down far enough in the gullet? Have you checked the profile of the wheel with a profile gauge? What’s your head angle set? How about your downward angle?
So I checked the chain today and see that the electric sharpener is actually producing a finished profile that is close to that of hand filing, so I'm no longer concerned about hand filing after using the electric sharpener.

My El Cheapo grinder does not have an adjustable vertical angle and I am using a 35* cross angle on the teeth. No profile gauge here, just using what the sharpener came with. Seems to be OK, not perfect but good enough for my needs.

That's cool. Fuel dumped in it? Or is that how it burns once it catches?
Chop a hole in a dead, hollow cedar tree, put in some burning birch bark and it goes right up.

At least that's what a friend told me. :D

I’ve 3d printer the gauges in the past as well as Oregon they sell them for cheap or they use to be cheap for the plastic ones.

I get a magazine called Northern Woodlands and in this months on-line version there was a feature article about one of our common contributors on this thread - John_Mc. I thought the things he is involved in were very interesting and some here may enjoy reading it. It is called "Fostering a Forest Community". Asking him if I could post a link he said this,

"You can put up the link if you want. Northern Woodlands is a great magazine.

I was a bit embarrassed that their write up came out so "me" oriented. Most of the various projects with which I'm involved are group efforts. I'm just one of the community members involved. I have a hand in organizing, but it really is a group effort."

Here it is: https://northernwoodlands.org/about...ter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=comm_voices
