These are for the people who do not like stake pockets as tie downs. https://www.amazon.com/Hydraker-Rem...t=&hvlocphy=9012068&hvtargid=pla-835310952698

If you want D-rings please use 3/4" or 1".

A stake pocket is better for hooking a chain than that is.
I do not use them. I see no need for them. There are people that do not like to use the stake pocket. For info only. As to the size of the D-ring look at the WLL on each part of your securement.

As in another thread the grade and size of the chain or other parts of the securement is important. Not just the size. A 1/4 grade 70 chain is stronger then a 3/8 common chain. You need to look at the WLL of each piece.

I've never lost a chain using a stake pocket. If you attach the chain correctly, the weight of the chain will keep the hook in place. I also never used more than one chain binder. Both chain hooks were placed in the stake pockets, then I would pull the slack to one side and put the binder in a convenient spot. Tighten the binder, then take the loop of chain in between the two binder hooks and wrap it around the binder and tie with a wire. I drove a hotshot truck for a while delivering vehicles into the oil patch and ranches, so I got lots of practice. DOT guys never questioned my manner of doing things. The main pita was having to chain both the bucket and the scoops on backhoes. It was overkill, but I was told any and all attachments required a chain.

mbs12000lbs

max breaking strength 12000 lbs
Seems I can not read well I my old age. A 12000 shear is not all that much, that is what, a 4500lb working strength?

Need to find that old chart I have around here somewhere. I know it is less than half...

If I remember right, G70 in 5/16 chain is 4700 pounds.
