And besides, we all know once we stop manufacturing here in the US, all the pollution with just go away.

As someone said before
“well then that settles it, if it’s not warm in YOUR area, then theres no global warming”
Not just my area, about half of the United States.
If you look at the OP referenced web site you will see this quote: "Meanwhile below average temperatures were present across parts of the East and South-Central U.S."

I didn't say I was against anything in that conversation regarding reducing idling times and timed lights. It was post #157. I'm pretty sure I agreed with you that moving cars are much more efficient than ones that have to stop and idle.

What I pointed out is that when our town went to timed lights and one-way streets, the town died. When they recently went back to two-way streets and non-timed lights, the town started thriving again because it's pedestrian friendly.

And, I pointed out that no one has run the numbers on how much fuel is wasted, pollution generated, etc. but it has to be around 20% or more.
yea, go ask starbucks if they will get rid of their drive thru.

this has nothing to do with anything except when i lived in scottsdale i used to count the 30 something trophy wife's in their convertible Mercedes sitting in the drive thru at Starbucks.

looked like barbie doll$.

Yep, and it’ll probably get worse as Covid shuts down more restaurants dining rooms.

local bojangles had drive thru only for a long time.

i happened across the mgr one day leaving his shift. i told him i used to own a franchise restaurant and was just curious how they were doing.

he said he can't find employees and their gross sales were up, compared to pre virus days.

i see wendy's has announced a few delivery only restaurants.

A pretty good friend has a few Burger Kings in town. Not the greatest part of town.

He said if he could (franchise agreement prohibits) he’d be 100% drive thru. Fewer employees, significantly less cleaning, no soda refills, less security issues, less utility costs.

Like you said, sales and profits spiked during the lockdown when he was forced to close the inside.

To him, Burger King is a takeout place - not somewhere to dine inside.

The Paris Climate Agreement looked at the issue on a per capita basis.

As a result, it says the USA is still be baddest bad guy.

So, China and the rest don’t believe they need to do as much as the USA.

In central Texas this has been one of the coolest summers I can remember. And it was one of the coldest winters on record. My backyard minimum temperature was on February 16 at 0.3˚F and the max was on July 26 at 99.5 ˚F. We will not hit 100˚ this month and probably not this year here, incredibly cool for Texas.
There's a difference between "Climate Change" and "Weather". Earth vs. Local

Makes me wonder how our climate might change after a massive thermo nuclear war?
A nuclear war would be the end of Humanity so Climate Change would not be relevant to us.

2060, huh? Wish we could put crap off that long….
According to our more corrupt “leaders”, we only have 11 years to live. Kinda makes 2060 rather unimportant, don’t you think?
By 2060 we will have gone over the tipping point. Mother Earth will be in the process of making a major population adjustment.

By 2060, I will be 110 years old,,,
Where are the keys to my 2500HD !!??

Heck, I have 4 grandchildren, and 2 daughters,,
EACH of them care less about the weather than I do,,

Drive everywhere, never walk, that is the norm,,
we have 6 public school age children on the street I live on,,
There are 5 LARGE school busses that transport those kids, twice EVERY day,,
We are at least 10 miles from the nearest school.
Can not ANY of those bus rides be combined?
Is there anything less fuel consuming than five 40 foot school busses?

HOW can that make sense!!??

That's what I always find odd about younger people. On more than one occasion I will come back to the truck at the end of a summer day to find one of the younger guys sitting on the tailgate with the truck engine running. Aside from the perceived ecological impact, I'm naturally cheap and can't see burning gas just for the sake of burning gas.

We have a guy that remote starts his truck about 15 minutes before the end of the work day in hot or cold weather to get the cabin to a comfortable temperature. Then I jump in my hot car and roll down the windows, drive with no AC for about 35 miles and get over 40 mpg. Quite the contrast...

Not that long. George Strait has beachfront property in Arizona. From his front porch he can see the sea.

If you buy that I’ll throw the golden gate in free.

Bingo. Even the ones in town that used to walk, now take a bus.

But even school buildings are so wasteful. I think the average school building only lasts about 20 -30 yrs it seems, then it’s no longer good enough and they build a new one.
