I thought this was interesting on my end...

Looking at my first TBN post (16 years ago) and why I came here in the first place.

Ended up buying a country clipper zero turn, ended up kicking out the famer using our land for his cattle, and after the zero turn was giving me fits trying to find a decent dealer and parts, ended up buying John Thomas's F mower (for some of the fields for hiking and shooting lanes) and then another zero turn for around the house. Meantime, found out my neighbor was a way better person than the original famer using our land, and he hays most of the fields in back for his own use which keeps the fields manageable.

Some regrets not spending the money on a tractor, but never had the cash at the right time, and didn't want to finance. Plan to downsize maybe 5-6 years from now, and don't see it being in the cards with a tractor.

So... what was your first post and what was the end result? Personally would find it interesting on what all the "old timers" first thread was here on this site.

Here is the first post:

Hello I am Jim from Branson, Mo. This is my first post. We don't get a lot of snow, usually less than a foot, often 6 to 8 inches. I have a new L3400HST, I was wondering if anyone has one of the new BXpanded chain on manual snow blades, I was looking at a 72 inch'er for my tractor, and all set up and shipped to me for about $1275. I know it will be sort of a compromise, without hydraulic tilt, it just does 0, 15,30 deg left or right and it just hooks on the bucket lip, but it would be easy off and on for sure, so you could use your bucket to pile snow if needed .. gotta be better than the old rear blade I was using on my B7500. Any owners? or comments? The BXpanded guy was very pleasant to deal with.

L3400 with 463 FEL, and busy home-brewing a ballast "ballast barrel"

I did not buy the Snow blade. I don't have the Kubota any more, and our snow events have been even milder the last few years. Still using the back blade, or just "let em melt". I did build the ballast barrel and bought other implements and/or modified others.

How do you find your first post?
Not the greatest step by step instructions, but...

Click on the search key at the top (magnifying glass)
Go to advanced search
Type in your username
Go to the calendar below, click on the year, go to the month (around when you joined)

I was looking for a older post of mine on something, and it wouldn't go that far back, then came across the above just by error and trial.

Came across my first post and started kind of laughing to myself. Thought it may do the same for others...

Added the fact that I joined in 2005, I was sincerely curious as to what everyone elses first post was on this forum.

Mine was also my first thread; I just got my loader back from the machine shop

I had to have it welded after the cross piece broke out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the 2 arms be parallel? The shop said they'd fix it if it's wrong, but felt that it wasOK, even though the pin bushings are at obvious angles to each other.

I hate to haul it 45 miles and try to muscle it back into palce only to find it's wrong. I probably should have brought the whole tractor down, but my trailer doesn't have brakes (yet), and had I gone 3 wereks without it, I'd be going through serious withdrawal by now.
Apparently I didn't know how to spell back then, either. o_O

You "joined" April 6th, 2000 per this website.

No doubt you have been here longer than I, but the search does go back at least that far.

Pretty amazing to look back into time ;)

Wow, that was a decade before I retired.
It was kind of a "wow" for me when I read my old post that we had just bought our place the fall before. No kids, just me and the wife. First home I ever owned in my late 30's, and I really had no clue what I was doing. Kind of still don't 🤣

My dad didn't move in with us about 18 years later.

So I searched for posts I made before Oct 1, 2001 and the search came up empty.
First post I could find for you on my end...

Is it possible you were a "lurker", joined up and never really posted? Not certain why I could find Thomas's first post but not your own?

Honestly, it's not "fun" on my end looking at peoples "first" posts here because it really doesn't mean antyhing to me other than seeing some guys who I rememeber who are no longer here.

See my post above. Why my own post actually kind of brought back memories.

My first post was April 4, 2013. I didn't buy the Mahindra, and ended up with a Kubota L5740. I have since traded that 5740 for another 5740 with a cab, and I also now have a L6060.

Now I'm confused... you joined in 2005 and your Dad moved in 18 years later. Some quick math using all of my fingers and most of my toes tells me that he won't move in until 2023, or perhaps fall of 2022. o_O
