I can't answer your question, but here's a video of my home made trenching bucket in use, just for a laugh.

Wow! That is really effective, and the working in reverse is probably more useful than the front facing ones!

It's made to be reversible. It's better working backwards, as the angle on the fel arms will lift when it digs in too hard.
My tractor has a reverser, so all 12 gear ratios are available forward + backward. Without that, it might get aggravating.
And I should say, my land is very sandy and easy to dig into.
I have cut through thin layers of sand + gravel without any trouble but I can't say how it would perform in rocky ground.

I had that happen once, not with the trench bucket though.
It is something to keep in mind during use.

But I can tell you, digging forward with my machine is much more worrisome, the bucket tends to dig in hard and everything gets a bit flexy.
Reverse works better.

Not true. If by arms I assume you mean cylinders. Going forward puts the cylinders under tension.

Actually, the FEL arms should be strong enough that the tractor can't bend them. On dirt at least.
If they'll bend before the tires start spinning, they won't last long anyway.

My trench bucket has a nasty leverage ratio acting against the tilt cylinder, and it is vulnerable. That's a design compromise to achieve the depth I need to bury electrical cables to local code.
