RNG, the magnitude of those fires cannot be depicted by the videos. That is some scary stuff! I wonder if the retardant sprayed on the houses actually helps....

For the past few days, crews have been spraying the retardant from water trucks because there was too much smoke to fly the tanker planes. Those pink houses are a pretty good indicator that it works at least some of the time. Better a pink house than none at all.

Only if it feels like the brake is on and you keep checking the hand brake pull it up and down and push on the foot brake several times thinking it might be stuck, then just shrug and increase the RPMs and take off messing up the ground behind you and then after going 50 feet wonder what is that grinding sound coming from the back of the tractor and turn around and say #%##.

I haven’t done that, but I’m capable of it.

just took a nice walk down to River with my brother, only went half a mile and I could feel it in my lower back.
Next week we go one mile. 5 months being institutionalized last year really has taken all the strength out of my legs.
Too bad this house isn't bigger or I'd get an exercise machine

lawn's all mowed, found another three tomatoes to pick, and have a quiet afternoon planned.
Need to refill hummingbird feeders, have a nice new one with red and white stripes around neck.

I was very happy with State Farm for decades, but they dropped us when the found out that we had more than 4 non-domestic animals. (About 40 more). Now we are with Westfield, so far they have been fine, but we have never had a claim, which is where you get to see where the bear goes through the buckwheat.

Four years ago when my one building burned, my tractor, which started the fire, ZTR and countless other things were in there. About 6 pm after all the fire related people had gone, my adjuster showed up and looked things over. He asked how I was going to mow grass and some other things. I told him I didn’t have a clue. He wrote me a forward payment of $7500 on the spot so I could replace essential items.
Things like that are why I love them.

68°F and .20 inches rain. A bit hopeful for some mowing.

Hand & Foot later this afternoon. Shrimp curry on the menu. I’ll prep the shrimp this morning as I await drier landscape.

Some of the Olympic coverage has been inspirational, like the 19 yo female canoeist, some disappointing, some just confusing because I’m not familiar with the rule scoring and some a bit frustrating when NBC covers the results before showing the event. I am glad not to have seen the protesters, even pleased that apparently some are failing to make the podium. In awe of many as I watch what they can put their bodies through. Even some good commercials.

Me too. Let the athletes do their thing and keep politics out of it.
Though I do think it was interesting that Russians were so institutionally corrupt in doping
they could not compete as Russians. Lot of corruption there, all the way to the top.
I think it's what setting bad examples will often produce.

But ultimately each and every athlete has to decide for themselves if they cheat on illegal substances.
It's really just say no and like in some other places, that just doesn't always work.
Pressure from coaches, pressure from parents, gotta win at any cost.

Once the athletes started with their protests, I gave up watching them. Same goes for the Olympics. Hit 'em in the pocketbook, and maybe they'll knock it off.
