They put Allison’s in a suburban now? I haven’t paid much attention to the new lineup because I ain’t buying one but they didn’t used to. Even the 8.1 powered ones didn’t have an Allison. Currently I’m driving a 2002 V10 excursion. It has power windows, AC, heated seats and cost $3500. What more could you ask for?
uhhhhh AC cooled seats, blue tooth, navigation, apple car play? Lol

I didn’t think the Ally was available in the suburban, either? That means its probably available for the Tahoe (shorty suburban)? I’d like to see that.

Agree on the GM 8.1L. Got to drive one years ago. It was severely “detuned“ from the factory. Very strong. Probably nothing compared to a Ford Ecoboost. Those Ford Ecoboosts have more bottom end than a medium duty diesel!

The Ecoboost is pretty stout. I currently have the 2.7 in my 15 F150 2wd. Very impressive

To the OP I bought a new 2500 HD with the 6.0 and 4.10 gearing and 4x4 in 2015 and it has been a great vehicle, problem with the drivers side window regulator only time it's ever been back to the shop, I get about 11 or 12 mixed driving and can get as much as 15.5 - 16 on the interstate if you stay at 65 or below, about 9 towing, I pull a stock trailer and a gooseneck flatbed , it's never given me a problem pulling what I hooked it to.

You have basically summed up my needs in your pictures. This and pulling our 3 horse Sundowner on the horse show circuit would be it’s job.

Sure is (Burb), listed in the owners manual as optional tranny.

I’m not finding it listed under the suburban options. Was that possibly a 3/4 ton option?

The Allison WAS NOT available in 2020 chevy burb or GMC Yukon SUV,s just the 8 speed and the 10 speed trannys.I have a 2020 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 motor and the Allison was not a option..In the 2020 pickups in 2500-3500 series Allison is a option.

A friend of mine had a 2015, I think, 2500 4x4 6.0. He hammered that thing along with transporting travel trailers around the midwest. That truck never gave him an issue although it looked like it was ready for the scrap yard after a couple of years in terms of appearance. He said it was one of the best trucks he ever owned. He eventually went to a Duramax.

I have had both 2wd and 4wd. I very seldom used the 4wd. I can’t justify the added expense and cost of repair on additional parts unless I really need it. The only place I will be off road much is our farm. The ground tends to be hard and if I do get in a bind the tractor can rescue me.
Just get a lunch box locker for the rear. Keep your original guts in a zip lock. One of those posi units in the rear, and some mud grippy tires will do good.

I owned this truck for a couple years, 2011 3/4 ton 6.0, 4x4. It was the extended cab with the doors in the back that opened the wrong way. I’d probably still have it except I noticed rust starting above the rear wheel wells. One thing I liked was the class V hitch which means you didn’t need a weight distribution hitch.
