After their last major power outage in TX, I don't expect that many would want to try Winter up here nord of the 49'th ! That said, Roxham Road is likely back to normal by now....

I was in Houston once when they had an "ice storm" (their words). Puzzled the _____ out of me, until I figured out they were talking about a few rain-puddles on the ground that froze over.

^ Fall weather up here, not long after Halloween most years..... why I still like hydrocarbons......

It seems to me the move to EVs is actually due to ICE technology ageing out perhaps?

I have a friend that is 64 who has been wrenching since he was 8-10 years old.

His take is to meet ever increasing tailpipe emissions standards all of the recirculation efforts is leaving deposits to build up in valve trains.

Maybe GM and others are deciding to ditch ICE's early to prevent costly recalls and legal cases?

Motor oil..... nobody (TBNers notwithstanding) checks oil levels today. Mandated engine changes drove huge changes in motor oil specs. Get whatever is the cheapo special at Chuckie's Kwik Khange and drive out to the % limit on OCI...... well, that's how vehicles in TX etc showed up (or were towed in) with basically no oil in them. NOAK Volatility Spec.... it matters......

GDI is a mess for many manufacturers, and just wait for cooled EGR repair bills.....

Rather than throw the frog in the boiling water, it's more productive to raise the heat over a longer time.....

Today's 13 year olds will have Zero in haggling with a stranger on a new car lot in 2041. Like the burgers they order today they will just get a new car built to order at an established price that everyone else is paying.

That part I like. Actually all of my cars were bought online since the late 90s, with a little email haggling. Only go to dealer for the pickup.

NADA is most successful at the state level, which is why the laws of most states prohibit manufacturers from selling direct to consumers.
