Never received package. Received refund. Since it was the last in stock cannot reorder.
:( Sorry to hear it.

I have had it happen more than a few times. Now when I see weirdness in tracking entries, I am already out ordering the replacement. I have had light items (e.g. Light fixtures), heavy ones (e.g. a power washer with no added packaging), and liquid ones (a special paint not available locally) all become a Missing In Shipping, Surprise! (MISS, for short). The paint I had a laugh over, imagining someone tossing the box onto a truck, and having the can rupture.

I was sitting on a plane once, watching a ground crew load freight onto the plane, and saw a package labeled "radioactive liquid, handle with care". Yes, you could read it from the passenger cabin. An employee stopped to read the caution statement and then tossed it on the conveyor belt. That was the end of my believing that anyone would follow a cautionary statement on a package.

Then again, some companies just do an amazing job. Valley Vet for one. We get all sorts of liquids and breakables from them, all creatively packed, and never any damage or leaks. I suspect them of having some internal formula to ensure that a box this heavy has at least this much surface area.

I would never put Amazon on the well packaged list, but they are so happy to take the problems back that it is almost a minor issue.

All the best,

Peter

I was in my shop yesterday and an older Dodge Caravan with something wrong with his radiator fan and New Mexico plates pulls up. Then I notice cardboard FEDEX signs in his back windows. He gets out, slides the side door open and hands me a box. Very nice gentleman working hard to make ends meet apparently as a contracted owner-operator.

Hopefully there was something in the box... a topic of discussion in another thread from a poster who lost the tines for his Titan pallet forks when the packaging failed.

Would anyone be interested in a shipping service that cost Half typical prices, But you had to drive to the nearest town to get (or send) your packages? (Sort of like having a PO Box at the post office but for packages....)

?????????
Might be false economy...spend $8 in gas to save $5 in shipping costs. Also figure that for tax purposes it costs ~55¢/mi. to operate a motor vehicle. Out here in the country that "nearest town" could be quite a ways away too. Gotta figure in the real cost of this.
And how long would they hold your package? Amazon has a similar service they call hub lockers, but you've only got a couple days to pick up or it gets sent back.

In winter I have packages delivered to a nearby general store which also acts as a drop off point. There is additional cost involved; 3$/package, plus driving 10 miles each way. It gets really frustrating and costly when I place one order from Amazon and it comes in 3 packages over a weeklong period.

When you can't package it, just slap a label on it and call UPS. Exactly how this arrived. They did tell me that some paint may be chipped in shipping. The bottom actually looks fairly good.
