Caught this little bird trying to put the twig inside bird house. It would not fit. Finally gave up and found a smaller twig.

Enjoy the conserve energy day ... ;)

Why is it GM is always inspirational AND entertaining? So much by so many here. Welcome to our recent joiners.

Somewhat a strange day here. Rain is over 3 inches last 24 hours and still coming down. Something of a let up when my neighbor took me to town in his Frontier flatbed to pickup my purchases of the other day. Took a few last minute adjustments. Of course, I had to accompany the neighbor on his errands but small price to pay for his assistance.

Not long after getting home got a call from another neighbor friend asking if we knew a closer neighbor has passed away. She had heard from wife of another neighbor further up road. We hadn’t. Not too surprising as a few years ago when Mike was unexpectedly in hospital on Oahu we were asked not to say anything. Some sort of a heart infection, more questions than answers, but he recovered. Mike since medically retired from teaching but doing quite well and he was in great spirits when we talked last weekend about his son trying to chase down a wounded pig on our property contiguous to his house. Not that it was a problem, he just wanted us to be aware should we see the wandering light. Mike’s daughter just graduated HS this summer. Mike was one of my 1st friends in the neighborhood going back to before we bought the property. So young. He will be missed.
Very sorry about your neighbor. I got word that my State Farm agent passed away at age 66. Was a surprise/shock. Not sure what the problem was. He lived in Georgetown which is near Don.

I made a trip to Home Depot for some hardware, and came back with a Makita LXT cordless string trimmer and leaf blower. My wife doesn’t even shake her head any more. I really am impressed with how well the battery tools work, and the batteries have about the same endurance as me. I have plenty of batteries, so i can always swap them out, but it’s been rare to not make it through the task at hand.
as I was reading, I thought you were going to say "I really am impressed that she doesn't shake her head at me any more.... :)

Have fun at the shin dig tonight.

70°F and another 1.4 inches rain. A shame we can’t redirect to the fire areas. Stay safe out there.

COVID D still surging out of control with another triple digit statewide day, 39 new cases on island. Makes me wonder how long before we start hearing about lawyers for a fully vaccinated victim suing the traceable unvaccinated source. Bound to happen and other than legitimate medical/religious exemption will eventually succeed. Stay tuned for the onslaught of TV ads.

Have to admit, yesterday’s news of Mike’s passing more a jolt. At our age such news concerning contemporaries somewhat normal, but not so much younger. Thanks for the comments.

Hope to stay better focused today, no planned distractions.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I hope the lawyers don't get into this. I'm guessing there is already precedent? I could understand prosecuting intentionally passing AIDS to another person sexually. That would be criminal. Or a person in charge who sent covid sick elderly to nursing homes, that infected other not yet vaccinated elderly, ought to be at the head of the list.

A friend wants to go look at some baling equipment. Old stuff. Hesston 5540 baler, Kuhn GMD 66 cutter. If anyone has anything to naysay about such, let me hear it soon.

Lawn's mowed, except for one small area...there's a robin's next on a limb just above....going to give that family a bit of time.
Also pulled up about half of the posts of the split rail fence. They were a good 4 feet in the ground and about the same above ground. I offered the wood to my neighbor who has a firepit down on the field we share. Don't think I'd burn this wood in a house, but for outside, should be fine. I used a chain and the 4052's loader to yank 'em out of the ground....
I'll do the weed trimming tomorrow and finish up pulling those posts... Rain tonight into tomorrow morning...that'll keep the dust down...
Guess I'm done for the day...

David, I am very sorry to read about your friend's death...

Ron, RNG, I read the reader's digest article. Really sad. Not sure how to circumvent it.

BEF, my daughter is really loving the Dell laptop I got her. Turns out it is a touch screen too, which I didn't really look at the screen other than the size. I didn't want too big a screen, so that it would fit in her back pack laptop slot. It has facial recognition if you want it, to unlock when you open it. It was on sale, with tax and free shipping it was $629. on the refurbished site.

Dell Latitude 7490 Notebook, Gray (Skin Applied), 14-in FHD Touch (1920 x 1080), Webcam, 1x Intel Core i7 Quad (i7-8650U) 1.90 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB HDD, No Optical, Intel Integrated Graphics, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10 Professional

The Dell I ordered for church came today, wasn’t scheduled till Wednesday. It looked nice, didn’t fire it up.

Got 1/2 hr wait before styx takes the stage. Extremely packed at the fair. Not a mask in sight. Not great seats tonight, but up under grandstands and rain is approaching from the west.

Tomorrow we are down front row 12 from the stage.

Buppies, brother had a DB9, likely won't have another, I think it was too refined for him...

nice dinner out with school board members, weather was great, vegan black bean burgers and carrot dogs.
Plus a ton of other stuff but I'd never seen a carrot dog before. I wasn't about to eat it so don't know if it was a pretend carrot or not.
Sure looked real.
One of the ladies made a huge fruit trifle for dessert, sinful combo of fresh cream, fruit and pound cake. Oh am I full....

my cranberry orange muffins went over well, one of the ladies had a birthday so they found a candle, stuck it in one of my muffins, and the
muffins saved the day. (y)

Drive home through little windy country roads through the woods a bit nervous due to being on high alert for deer. Three times they were standing
next to the road, probably deciding whether they wanted to run into my grill. Latest article in paper said they wanted to cull 1000 deer.
That's a lot of deer and shows how they have simply gotten out of hand in this area. No natural predators other than our car grills...

hope you all have a good evening.

Does the school board set the curriculum there and are their any parents of current students on it? Are you all elected or appointed?

76F and partly cloudy @ 21:30, headed down to an overnight low of 71F. Line of strong storms southeast of Detroit trailing back to the Ohio/Indiana line ... estimate they will be here in 2 - 3 hours ... if they hold together.

Got dirt work done (I think) up at neighbor's new pole building. He's already got his next project moved in - it's a '53:

Once I finished that I came back to the house and went over to the barn and dug up four 6' t-posts, then headed up to the van and stuck critter food in the loader bucket along with the fencing parts and hauled it around back and unloaded it. There's still a couple more 6' t-posts over in the barn if we end up needing them.

After that cut some pvc, glued up around more 12 joints, and glued the last two pieces on the second watering rig. It's more or less ready to go, just need to put the brass garden hose fitting on the one and set the spray pattern and distance.

Refilled the hopper and one of the two sunflower tube feeders, also one suet feeder. Second sunflower tube feeder was brought inside for clean out and repairs, still trying to locate my spare parts. Probably would help if I cleaned up the garage ...

Then I ran down to corner gas station and picked up 7 gallons of gas for the Cub. Refilled it when I got back and started mowing the east side down here around the house, have that around 3/4 done.

Took Kubota up and got another bucket load of screened compost and brought it down and used the box blade to spread it out over the depression from the gas/water trench going over to the pole barn.

Fed Woman's fish upstairs, also all cats up and down.

Finished up wings from Dominos for dinner, along with one plain wing The Woman brought home from Buehlers and some of the scalloped potatoes.

After dinner I gathered up some garden tools that got left out yesterday and put the Cub in the garage.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)
