Sounds like some are repeating phrases stated by grandfathers in 1921 about Henry Ford's cars catching on fire and how ignorant it was buy gas tractors, cars and trucks because gas was hard to find.

Just like there was no question about the future success of gas cars, trucks and tractors in 1921 the same goes for non gas cars, tractors and trucks today.

In the early 1950s I remember my father borrowing the neighbors team of mules and corn planter to plant our corn. Nothing changes over night but the words of old men have never stopped progress with hot air. :)

Why would one ever charge during the day when one can start every morning with a full charge for 150-300 miles? Especially where T.O.U. billing is used in areas deprived of sufficient generating capacity by government mismanagement. In those areas nighttime electric power is outright cheap. So cheap people purchase $10k Tesla Powerwalls to charge at night with cheap power so as to supplement their daytime usage.

The answer is one would charge during the day on rare road trips to distant locales. Is a very small percentage of EV power usage but something lightweight thinkers can not get "the gas station paradigm" out of their heads as the only means of fuel/powering all modes of transportation.
Police, fire, ambulance, maintenance, government, post office just for starters will run their batteries down in both day and night shifts, but I guess thats hard to grasp? Think a little deeper about what goes on at night while you are sleeping. Cops are patrolling, ambulances go to accidents and high speed idle for hours. Packages are delivered. Inspections are performed. Bakeries deliver donuts!

Aint just gonna be retired old rich guys and birthing persons driving EVs. We po folks wit lightweight thinkin’s gonna be forced to drives em, too. Lol
Anyone who thinks all EVs will be charged at night is really showing ignorance.
Speaking of charging for fire, police, ambulance, government and the like, how many 100’s of millions will the mandated changeover cost? How much will the charging stations cost? Where will all the ICE cars go? Who will pay for all of it? How many municipalities are broke and can’t afford it? Or people for that matter?
I bet the taxpayer foots the bill and the bill is 10 times the speculated cost.
Now remember I WANT an electric truck, but I am uncomfortable with the cost to society based on science I am uncomfortable with and taxing individuals more to acheive this. We’ve been told the worlds going to end in x-years since the early 70’s, and it hasn’t happened, and it won’t happen, but now we’re forcing an enormous expenditure

Chill and research to fill in your knowledge gaps. How old will you be in 2050 when your diesel truck may or may not be parked forever?

Gale, I’m chill, just asking questions. The “knowledge gaps” are legit areas of concern. I like to question authority or change, especially when it is mandated upon us. It makes me suspicious.
You should be pleased that some of us are cautious.
BTW, you have been very gracious in your explanations.

Thank you for your kind words.

I bought our 2016 Nissan Leaf SL two years ago when I realized how far I was behind on the EV learning curve.
We are fortunate to have leaders like Elon Musk and his team to show us how to cut cost of getting from point A to point B or even to the space station.

Today we are 10 years away from having EVs affordable for the masses. While Tesla has the best and the fastest EVS on the market today they will pale to compare to what will be on the market in 10 years from now cost wise. Motors are moving to the wheels and gears will be history. Gears waste battery life and jack up purchase price. Keep your eyes on the European EV marketplace and see if they do not throw the baby out with the bath water. :)

I can see EVs being banded in 10 years in the USA if 10% of your EV phobias become real.
well, most are gracious anyways. Lol
They arent “phobias”, they are concerns.
Look, I think EVs are great, but tell me you have ZERO concern about how they are being forced on us and how much all this will cost?
No concern about that?
Whats next? Ban sugar and force chemical sweeteners on us? Don’t laugh….

Is it okay to smile real big. :)

I really have zero concern I'll be forced to do anything against my will.

What that is going to happen EV wise in the United States is not even know today it's just all talk. I am getting too old to fret about things that may never happen.

Yeah, but have ya seen Europe and Kalifornya?
Usually we follow them like lemmings.

I always thought a truck with a motor at each wheel would give insane traction and power
