Large white "billboard-looking-thing" at the west end of the Ferris Mountains, 3+ miles from the highway and far higher.

Google satellite view:

I think it’s a “Jesus Saves” sign.
And he does, btw.

It’s likely a telecommunications reflector of sorts.

Did anyone else think that in front of the billboard in the satellite view there could be solar panels? I could not be sure. It could possibly be a "billboard" type of radar installation. Of course there would need to be command and control links over radio or buried lines to control it and receive data from it. I would not stand in front of it, but someone needs to hike up there and take a look. This probably is unlikely, but a possibility. It may just be some plywood painted white, BUT someone went to a heck of a lot of trouble to put up the thing, and it ain't no advertising billboard now is it 3 miles from the road? Of course idiots have put up "monoliths" elsewhere in the world for no good reason, so maybe it is just that. Some close up photos would tell the tale. So who is going to hike up there?

I think it's NOTHING, until we get a better view.

Enlarge the photo and it's a billboard. Maybe planes fly near it.

I think that is a “passive wave antenna”.
There is one just like this located near me. It is a microwave “reflector” that bounces microwave energy to a receiver not visible from the originating station (telecommunications). Requires no power to operate. They are usually located on a hill.

If I am camping,, can I use that microwave to re-heat my hotdogs?

That would be great, I would not have to release the carbon in the fallen trees by building a campfire,, VERY eco - responsible,, 🪵

:sneaky:

So it's like, a microwave snatchblock?

Two more views from Google Earth, with different lighting.

OK, I can buy into the passive microwave reflector. I can see there are no solar panels now. Anyone know who or what it serves?

I know where it's vicinity is and it's out in the middle of nowhere. Looks like a com repeater like the one near Togwotee pass north of Jackson Wy.
