Just curious how profitable this would be. The farm wouldn’t have to be specifiallly for human consumption, could be similar to a lady bug farm used to sell lady bugs to famers to kill avidly, or crickets sold for pets.

Human consumption? Crickets for pets? Not sure where you are but around here I’d guess there wouldn’t be much of a market for barbecued grasshoppers. Now maybe if they were mudbugs...

Nothing large scale, used to do a ton of mealworms for chicken treats.

There's bound to be a few bugs to work out.

If you can get more bugs to work out, you can advertise stronger bugs than the competition.

I knew a guy who grew laboratory rats.

You can collect a lot of cicadas right now. However 17 years between harvests might be tough.

Start a worm farm, service bait shops & gardeners

Crickets around here are fish bait for bluegill and perch. I don't fish much anymore but there used to be a good market for them.

You could grow grasshoppers and chocolate coat them
and sell them. Who don't like chocolate??

My parents used to raise earthworms on a small scale. Did OK but the competition got pretty tough.

I own a place the family calls "bug acres". Half of it is wetland and abandoned railroad bed wasteland. Grows some mighty fine bugs. It is for sale if you are interested.

Composting worms bring a pretty penny.
