Have all of you in the USA received a letter from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. in the past week? Just yesterday, May 3, 2021, we got a letter from the:

Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service
Austin, TX 73301-0003

It's a letter with a "NOTICE DATE: APRIL 22, 2021" (took 10 days to get here????).

So President Biden says, "I am pleased to inform you that because of the American Rescue Plan, a direct deposit of $2800 was issued to you by direct deposit. If you haven't received your payment within 7 days of receiving this letter, please check the status of the payment by visiting the IRS website or calling the IRS phone number listed at the bottom of this page."

My first thought was "we're getting another pandemic bonus" but then I realized it was just trying to get a little more credit for something that happened way back on March 17 of this year.:(:(

I wonder how many people will be waiting and expecting another bonus.

Got my check Friday. But no letter. Put it in savings account.

60°F and rain this morning. Forecast shows a high of 66° today, but that must have been at midnight, as the hourly forecast shows temps dropping all day into the 50s. "Woke last night to the sound of thunder" ... several times. All of the severe stuff went well north of us last night, with some tornado warnings in the Springfield area. Seems the severe stuff this morning is down in the Kentucky/Tennessee area. We're just in for rain all day.

Piddled around in the studio last night for awhile. Unfortunately, the weather cut that short.

Doug, both of our Husqvarnas, zeroturn and rider, have Kawasaki motors. Both are relatively new, maybe two or three years old at most. Both are also 42" cut. That works out great around the house cutting around all the obstacles, but it's a slow cut back in the open pasture. I need to start looking for something with a 60" deck for the bigger spaces.

We got that letter, too, Bird. I kind of laughed it off, until I realized it was a letterhead from The White House mailed in an envelope from the IRS. I found that a little fishy. Whatever, though ... politicians being politicians.

Mornin all, wet with about 1" of rain so far and little wind.

Drew,New Bugatti cost more than a few houses in a nice neighborhood, someone is doing well. I miss having a classic car.

No letter or money for me, hope it goes to people who really need it, We have been lucky that both the wife and I have our jobs. Have many friends who are looking, and it's great that most have found something.

Thank you Ron for taking the pressure off us to get good pictures :)

L4N and Steppenwolfe - out thoughts are with you

Stay safe and be well.

Yes, Bird, that's the second of such letters I've gotten, both referring to stimulus payments that happened way before the specified date. I just chalked it up to the usual governmental incompetence and inefficiency.

Good morning to all! Low of 39, going up to mid 60's. The outside is still damp after an afternoon shower yesterday---- WOOHOO! It was only a .25" total, but hey.... better than nothing! The rest of the week will remain dry, temps here are forecasted to be in the mid 80's by the weekend.

I have been taking it easy, just some small projects here and there.... Mr knee won't allow much more. An evaluation at PT yesterday halted any exercises. Apparently during the fall, there were some muscles / tendons that were stretched too far. The outer side muscles were very "tight", the inside muscles "stretched".... no wonder it was complaining. Now it needs more time to heal again, so minimal exercise....

Glad to hear none of you guys got in front of one of the multiple tornadoes reported. The news reports just reinforced the wifey's stand against moving to anywhere E / SE of here.....

She is probably right.... about moving in general... why take on new expenses, high costs of services to build a new homestead, and 'start over' again. Everything here is paid in full. It will provide us the opportunity to go and see the country in the RV at our leisure.... I a beginning to believe in her thoughts of 'staying put'.

The greenhouse is great, everything in there is loving the humidity. The Hatch green chile plants have buds starting on them already!

Back on March 3, I ordered some bare root pines and a couple of small trees online. They confirmed the order, took my money, and said shipping would take place in 2 weeks..... nothing by the end of March, then nothing by mid April.... 2 emails sent, but same generic response.... shipping would be by "April"... So, called the credit card and disputed the charge, being we did not get anything after 60 days.
Guess what? .... I got an email this morning stating they shipped the trees....
We already ordered and received 50 pine saplings within 4 days of ordering from another company.... I might just refuse this shipment, but, maybe not....
The cost of potted plants has tripled this year.... what we are getting for $2 is costing well over $20 in the local nurseries.

Prayers out for those in need.... especially L4N and Steppenwolfe.

Everyone have a great day!

Same here, Ted. We've been vacillating back and forth for a few years now about staying where we are versus moving somewhere else. Our state certainly gives us plenty of reasons to consider leaving. That's what inspired the latest conversation. However, like you, the fact that we own our place was a big part of the equation. That's a big factor to consider, especially as more and more gray hair starts to show.

Randy, can't remember if you've tried Mission BBQ, but they have a Carolina vinegar sauce that's real good (don't tell BEF, but it's not nearly as good as in Eastern NC).

.

I like the NC sauce when in NC, but not my favorite, but still good. In AR they have minced pork sandwiches with slaw on that are really good. In general, any bbq is good.

At least one house destroyed in WV from this storm, and trees and wires down just south of my house. We never got much wind, just heavy rain. Total 3.57”, we did need rain.

My son got one, I didn’t. Also didn’t get any cash in March.

I’m thinking more and more about retiring, why work just to hand most of it over to others?

Morning all.

Woke up to rain and low 60’s. Supposed to stay that way much of the day.

It’ll be an inside day for me and my wife and the kitty.

I tried to get the kitty to like me more yesterday while my wife was at work. It was good - he crawled up on my chest and let me pet him. He even did his roll thing so I’d rub his belly.

I was feeling good.

Then, my wife gets home and comes inside and kitty jumps off me and runs to her meowing like she’d been gone a month!!

Of well - at least I’m #2. Don’t ask if there is a #3.

Have a safe one today.

Mo, when a cat rolls onto its' back and exposes its' belly, it is saying that it trusts you. That doesn't necessarily mean that it wants its' belly rubbed. I've paid in blood many times for that mistake.

We are having those same conversations. MD is high taxes, no gun rights, but yet pretty and generally low crime in the country. I would like to move to the farm in OH, wife not keen on it. We keep talking TN also, or southern VA.

The fact that my place is paid for and my age (74) are the main reasons this place is not on the market. I would really like to either move farther north or go back to Alberta, but do I want to go into deep debt again? Naw, I don't think so.

66F and cloudy @ 11:45, headed up to a high of 73F for the day, with thunderstorms developing later this afternoon. Rainfall accumulation since midnight 0.10", updated total for yesterday 0.95" ... (y)

Just fixed second cup, too hot to drink.

Looked out back through the living room picture window a little bit ago and spotted two Eastern Phoebes ... so it looks like they will be nesting and raising a brood this year (saw what I think was a male last year but don't think I ever saw a female and no nest under the deck IIRC)

Have a starling I need to evict from the northern flicker nest box.

West planting bed showing some promise, although the rhododendron in the middle of it is questionable (deer browsed it pretty hard over winter):

Rest of Amazon order came in yesterday for lighting/aux power on the Cub: inline ATO fuse holders and fuses (lifetime supply ...), weatherproof outlets. Second delivery of the day. I ended up finding a good quality (but previous used) West Marine accessory outlet during my foray up to the shop that I's forgotten I had ...

Took trash/recycles up to the can at the road around 22:00 last night and then continued to work on soldering up the wiring harnesses for the lights and accessory outlet for the Cub last night.

While I was doing that, around midnight (in the garage, with the door up), some creature started making noises - sounded like it was just on the other side of the van - which was about 40' away from me. Suspect it may have been a deer, sounded kinda similar to this:

So I walked over towards the van and shined my flashlight inbetween the van and house and caught a glimpse of something making tracks around towards the back, but I couldn't really make out what it was. I'd be lying if I said it didn't give me the willies ...

Have the all Weatherpack connectors soldered on (2 sets, 4 pieces) as well as the ring terminals on the ATO fuses holders, and the leads going up under the "dash". Looks like I'm short a couple of female spade terminals so probably a trip to the corner hardware store today, unless I can locate something here in inventory I can repurpose (which is entirely possible)

Got the lights hung with the magnets, but still need to check to make sure the forward-facing light will clear the garage door (it's mounted on top of the ROPS) Think I may use a couple of heavy-duty zip ties as well - just to be sure they won't come off.

Will definitely need to check around the property and make sure any limbs that might be a problem are trimmed back.

Still need to sleeve the wires that run up to the ROPS with PET loom and mount the little attaching plates for the zip ties that will secure it. Also need to locate some zip ties ... I think there may be a bag of them around here somewhere ... probably up in the shop.

Have not been able to locate the chassis ground on the frame yet so I'll do a little further poking around and see if I can find that.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Thanks! Didn’t know that fact. I did rub his belly and escaped unharmed - but will remember that in the future.

I’ve always had dogs. When our last passed about a year ago, my wife wanted a cat. I was doubtful but she deserves a pet she wants. I love our cat now - he’s a friendly, people cat.

But - cats are much different from dogs. You always know what a dog is thinking. Cats are truly mysterious lots of the time.

Poured first cup of coffee. 59° with rain and fog this morning. Heading to 65° with more rain and fog. Got .26" of rain since yesterday morning. Everything is wet. Skipped house cleaning yesterday and modified casters on legs of Johnson band saw I bought couple weeks ago. It will cut pieces of flat stock up 12" wide. Still needs a couple of other repairs. Dr appointment in afternoon. Will do some of the house cleaning before that.
Sometime you have to wait your turn a suet cakes.

You got them queued up ...

BTW - great oriole pic ... (y)

Don't recall ever seeing any here ... probably need to plant more stuff that will attract and and hold them.

Looking forward to updates on the bandsaw project.

Besides, Alberta is not doing so good right now.

I thought I was getting audited by the IRS.

64˚F this morning when our FireWise Group started clearing.

On the FOK menu/recipe list for lunch today was A quinoa green goddess bowl - again very good.

RS 1.3 in ch in 3 days minimizes the runoff.

Yup - promises to be a good soaker.

Pancakes are a flour and oatmeal mix, god recipe from MIL. Can't find my flour, who;e wheat flour and corn meal mix recipe. :(

Sounds interesting.

RS bluebirds in 3 of 5 house sounds good.

If verified I sure won't be complaining.

Glad you were able to get lawn mowed (and get a nap in ... (y))

2x on Chipotle (The Woman like them though so what are ya gonna do ?)

not a good night last night, shoulder really bothered me, had to take some pain pills again.

Hope that improves for you in (very) short order.

Whole arm is turning black and blue; they must have bent
me around while I was knocked out and apparently I now bruise more easily. I think that started when I was put on baby aspirin every day. Whole arm is black and blue and yellow
down to elbow.

Been on baby aspirin for at least the last 7 years.

In addition to bleeding like a stuck pig at the drop of a hat, I noticed that I tend to bruise more easily as well.

AFAIC, it just goes with the territory at this point.
