I like sauerkraut, on hot dogs, cooked with hot dogs, Ruebens, even just as a side. Our Canadian friends make a sauerkraut soup in the Instant Pot. Wife likes even more, but reality is we don’t have very often. As a kid, my mom would do the sauerkraut cooked with hotdogs thing.
One I liked even better was hot dog pieces sautéed with sliced onions, meaning lots of onions just cooked to clear not browned. I should make for me and let Sophie have the hot dogs.

Backstep to the pickle discussion, I’d be very remiss not to mention my mom’s homemade bread & butter pickles. Of course as a kid I didn’t think they were as good as Grammy’s mustard pickles, but today I’d be over joyed with either.

Good evening all. 46F for the start, clear, breezy. Very windy, Clear sky , low was 44F, high temp was 53F. Got back mowed today, got my bike ride in, got my nap. Put hose faucet covers back on, tomorrow's low forecast is 33F

Managed to get a couple hours seat time, pulling the flail, start of a new round of mowing. Nice and dry, enjoyable.

Perhaps more importantly I got my PV powered, DC pool pump back in operation. I didn’t have a replacement mini fuse, but plenty of the full size and the holders, so replaced it. Also added 2 more solar panels. These were some older, 80w, 12v Sharp I had gotten from a friend. The existing 4 panels are 123w, 12v Sharp wired in series from my first PV system when I built the cottage back in 2005. My original plan was to wire all 6 in series. My pump controller is rated 72v nominally. I decided to parallel the 80’s, giving me 160w at 12 v and put them into the series, so technically I think I’m at 60v nominally. No idea how the 160 vs 123 watt works out. When I flipped the switch I was 103v, pretty much as expected as I was seeing 80 at old string and 20 at the new before tying together.
Pump is humming along. This means the pool will be filtering anytime sun is strong enough. Pump is variable speed so interesting to hear it change pitch. Pump is plumbed into the Hayward sand filter I just rebuilt.
With this in place, I will only have to use house power to run booster or supplement with main ac pump. In essence, full time filtering for almost free.

37 right now...a bit of rain falling. The forecast also calls out snow showers today. High, a rather chilly day in the mid-40's and continuing rain

Wifey wanted to go out for dinner when I got home yesterday, so that's what we did...well, it was actually dinner to go since much of Vermont is still on lockdown. But, it was a nice ride and the salad I got was pretty good.

Looks like the next couple days are not going to be conducive to outdoor work...but that's OK. Saturday's weather looks to be OK

Morning all! 42 here going to 60 with clouds all day.

Off to the other neighbor's today to help him remove the snow blower and install the front end loader and mower. Small Kubota with quick hitch so a pretty easy swap.
Might do more branch pickup if we have time before family comes to visit.

I went out to the garage to check my new tooth bar and can only find "GETT" stamped on each tooth. Google search didn't turn up any info. Will see if I can find out anything more when I see that neighbor.

We didn't have hot dogs when I was a kid, perhaps because my Dad said "that store bought light bread isn't fit for human consumption" so Mother made all our bread herself and never made any buns that I can remember. But "weiners" (or as we called them "weenies) cut up in sauerkraut was a common dinner.

We thought winter was over in north Texas and now this morning it's 32 degrees, but the weather folks think it's going for 64 with only a light northerly breeze.
